GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Senior
Maddi Seibel (Newtown, Pa./Pennington School) scored the first goal 51 seconds into the game and over the next 59 minutes nine of her teammates joined her in the scoring column as eighth-ranked Gettysburg College (9-3, 4-0 CC) remained perfect in Centennial Conference action with an 18-5 victory over visiting Swarthmore College (6-4, 1-3 CC) at Clark Field on Saturday.

Playing in front of a robust crowd of parents, alumni, and potential future Bullets, Gettysburg established itself defensively from the outset as sophomore
Regan Rightmire (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) knocked the ball out of the stick of Ashly Pyon following the opening draw, the first of 27 turnovers for the Garnet. Just 40 seconds later, Seibel hit the back of the net following a feed from sophomore
Jenna King (Millersville, Md./Severna Park).

Swarthmore found no way around Gettysburg's swarming defense and coughed the ball up five times over the next four minutes, including a trio of failed clears. Sophomore
Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) disrupted that third clear attempt, knocking the ball away from Helen Stafford before tossing a pass to a streaking Seibel for a 2-0 lead at 10:02.

Andie Kapiloff produced Swarthmore's first goal to make it 3-1 with 8:06 left in the first quarter. That would be the extent of the Garnet's first-half offense as the Bullets ran off the next nine goals. Six different players scored for Gettysburg, including two by Basso. Seibel provided the setup for the final tally of the half, finding Rightmire for a 10-1 lead.

Despite the disparity in offensive production, Swarthmore more than held its own inside the draw circle and pulled out two of the first three goals of the second half to trim the margin to 11-3. The margin was 12-4 when senior
Caroline Keenaghan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) came around the cage for a goal following a feed by Basso at 5:31.

Isabela Bloomquist ripped a shot past sophomore goalie
Gill Cortese (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) at the start of the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to 13-5. Gettysburg quickly answered with a pair of first-years trading goals in
Emily Crane (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) and
Sophie Smith (Great Falls, Va./Langley). Crane completed her second hat trick in as many outings at 10:55 before Smith turned in her second hat trick of the season with her final tally at 9:18 to push the lead to 17-5.

Swarthmore's final clear attempt went awry and the Bullets polished off the scoring with sophomore
Devon Kelty (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown) finding classmate
Sophie Showers (Larchmont, N.Y./Mamaroneck) at 2:42.

Gettysburg finished with the advantage in shots (34-17) and ground balls (25-15), while Swarthmore won the draw battle 18-9. The Bullets forced an opponent into committing 20 or more turnovers for the third time this season, with 10 of the Garnet's miscues coming on clear attempts.

In addition to Crane and Smith, junior
Gabi Connor (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) also turned in a hat trick to go along with one assist. Basso posted two goals and two assists, Seibel tallied two goals and one assist, and both Keenaghan and sophomore
Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) totaled a goal and two assists.

Gettysburg racked up caused turnovers all over the field. Senior
Nora Janzer (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) led the way with three, while juniors
Nora Belodeau (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and
Essie Pasternak (Short Hills, N.J./Blair Academy) and sophomore
Kaitlyn Bergen (Millstone, N.J./Allentown) each posted two caused turnovers. Belodeau also grabbed four ground balls, while Pasternak tallied three ground balls and four draw controls. Cortese finished with seven total saves.

Bloomquist led Swarthmore with two goals and one assist. Helena Irvine corralled nine draw controls and Pyon grabbed six draws. Stafford posted eight saves.
