Olivia Moyer has joined the Gettysburg staff as Assistant Director of Athletics Communications, announced by Director of Athletics Communications
Luke Stillson.
Moyer joins the communications staff for the 2022-23 year after graduating from nearby Elizabethtown College in May.
Moyer, a Mechanicsburg native, was a key member of the Blue Jays' athletics communications staff during her undergraduate days. She served three years as a student assistant in the athletics communications office, working extensively with the live video stream. She also assisted with creating graphics and statistics.
She was also a staff reporter for the Etownian student newspaper and served as programming director for ECTV-40, Elizabethtown's student-run television station. She wrote news and feature stories for the Etownian. For ECTV-40, she was the director, producer, and technical director for three different shows. Additionally, she led the training of new volunteers on studio and remote equipment. She also managed the crews during production.
Outside of Elizabethtown, she was also a video intern for the Lancaster Barnstormers during the summer of 2021, shooting and streaming live video. She also created and posted highlight reels to the team's social media pages and helped direct promotional material between innings.
Moyer earned numerous awards while at Elizabethtown, including as a three-time winner of the Communications Achievement Award. In 2022, she also earned the James K. Duff Excellence in Public Speaking Award, which is given to the communications major who exhibits the best public speaking skills across various presentations. She was also a presenter at the International Association of Communication and Sport Conference in 2022, presenting on "The Olympics and Gender: How Gender Biases Present in Sports Commentary and Social Media of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics".
Moyer graduated with honors from Elizabethtown with a bachelor of arts in communications and a minor in professional writing.
