Justin Rhyne (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) led the Bullets with a career-high 11 tackles. He was one of four members of the defensive front seven with seven or more tackles.
•
Ryan McAndrew (Denville, N.J./Morris Catholic) led the offense with seven catches for 140 yards and a touchdown.
•
Rocco Abdinoor (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary's Annapolis) went 11-for-23 through the air with two touchdowns for 154 yards. He also ran 10 times for 70 yards.
FOR THE FOES
• Trevor Bopp completed 24 of 39 passes for 290 yards and two touchdowns for the Lions.
• Jason Gill caught 10 passes for 152 yards.
• Jayson Schmidt carried the ball 20 times for 103 yards and two scores.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After the Bullets' first three drives ended in two turnovers and a three-and-out,
Chris Lessel's (Orefield, Pa./Parkland) third interception of the season set up the Gettysburg offense at the Lions 49. The drive marched into the red zone but stalled at the TCNJ 17 where a fake field goal did not convert the for a fourth-and-3. That was the deepest either offense penetrated in the first quarter.
• The Lions took advantage of a third Gettysburg turnover early in the second quarter when Jayson Schmidt capped off a six-play, 34-yard drive with a one-yard burst for a 7-0 lead with 11:33 on the clock. After TCNJ once again stopped the Bullets deep in its territory, Trevor Bopp engineered an 11-play, 72-yard drive to go up 14-0. Bopp connected with Malin Jasinski for a 15-yard touchdown along the sideline with 2:11 to play in the opening half.
• Another 16-yard Jasinski scoring grab stretched the lead to 21-0 with 12:54 to play in the third quarter.
Walle Harwigsson Lundblad (Malmo, Sweden/Rabun Gap) caught a 24-yard crossing pass on a third-and-8 and took it 24 yards for the first touchdown of the day, cutting the margin to 21-7 with 4:27 showing. A snap through the punter's hands in the endzone resulted in a safety with 1:07 remaining, pushing the lead to 23-7. A 49-yard
Ryan McAndrew catch-and-run down the sideline on the first play after getting a four-yard punt closed the margin to 23-13 but the Bullets' two-point attempt failed to keep it a 10-point deficit with two ticks left in the period.
• The Bullets drove deep into TCNJ territory on their first possession of the fourth quarter but a pair of penalties forced a fourth-and-23 from the 37-yard line and Amir Vick broke up the pass at the sticks to get the stop. Gettysburg got a turnover and the goalline on the ensuing Lions' possession but was forced into a punt with 6:52 to play and College of New Jersey was able to run out the clock. Schmidt broke through the line for a 25-yard touchdown with less than a second on the clock to set the final margin.
