THE SKINNY STORY
A lone goal in the 61st minute proved the difference to lift Franklin & Marshall, ranked fifth in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll, to a 1-0 win over Gettysburg.

Kevin Muhic (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) led the Bullets with five saves in goal.
FOR THE FOES
• Jack Baer had the lone tally for the Diplomats.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Franklin & Marshall had an 8-4 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes but neither team could find the back of the net. Gettysburg carried the run of play over the first 10 minutes of the second half. Shortly after that, however, Wes Wise found Jack Baer on the left wing and Baer fired it past the keeper and into the upper-half of the net for the 1-0 lead. The Diplomat defense held the rest of the way.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Franklin & Marshall clinched at least a first-round bye in the upcoming Centennial Conference tournament with the win and could secure the top seed pending the outcome of the Washington-Muhlenberg game later in the evening. Gettysburg was eliminated from the conference tournament with the loss.
• The Diplomats finished with a 13-9 edge in shots while the Bullets had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
