GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg will travel to Lancaster, Pa., for one of the first-round games of 2023 Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer championship tournament on Tuesday. Game time is 4 p.m.
In the second year of the new six-team format in which the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds host the opening round, the fifth-seeded Bullets (8-6-2, 6-3-1 CC) faces fourth-seeded Franklin & Marshall (10-2-4, 6-2-2 CC) in one of the first-round games. Third-seeded McDaniel (10-2-5, 6-1-3 CC) hosts sixth-seeded Dickinson (9-6-1, 5-4-1 CC) in the day's other game at 2 p.m.
In a change to the format this season, the field will be reseeded for the semifinals. The higher-seeded remaining team will travel to second-seeded Johns Hopkins (13-2-2, 8-1-1 CC) in one semifinal on Friday. That game will begin at 6 p.m. The lower-seeded remaining advances to top-seeded Swarthmore (12-2-2, 8-1-1 CC) in the other semifinal at 7 p.m.
The semifinal winners will advance to Sunday's championship game, which will be played at the site of the highest remaining seed. Game time will be determined following Friday's semifinals.
Tickets will be sold for each round of the CC tournament and will be available soon on the
Centennial ticketing homepage. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students age 6 through high school and senior citizens. Children five and under as well as students and staff from conference institutions are free.
The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Nov. 11. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
The Bullets are seeking their sixth conference title and first since 2004. It is the 19th tournament appearance for Gettysburg. The Bullets also in search of their ninth NCAA tournament bid.
In the regular-season meeting between the Bullets and Diplomats, Franklin & Marshall scored twice in the first half for a 2-0 win last Wednesday in Lancaster.
Sophomore
Elise Fox (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) leads Gettysburg with three goals this season while junior
Zoe Want (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union) has a team-best eight points on two goals and four assists.
Freshman
Alex Jurow (Boonton, N.J./Parsippany Hills) has made 12 starts in goal, posting a 1.18 goals-against average and .794 save percentage. She is 7-3-1 with five individual shutouts to her credit.
