THE SKINNY STORY
Franklin & Marshall scored three first-half touchdowns off three Gettysburg turnovers to build a 21-3 lead en route to a 35-10 victory in the regular-season finale.
THE LEADERS
•
Peter Corcoran (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) led the Bullets with seven tackles on defense.
•
Rocco Abdinoor (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary's Annapolis) added 59 yards rushing and 81 yards passing in the first half.
FOR THE FOES
• Ty Tremba led the Diplomats with 211 yards passing, going 15-for-30 with three touchdowns. He also ran for 38 yards on seven carries.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Taking over at its own 45 after an interception, Franklin & Marshall immediately moved back five yards on a false start but then Ty Tremba took over for a 13-yard run to start a five-play, 55-yard drive and the first score of the game when Trema hit Jack Sutton for an eight-yard touchdown with 2:01 to play in the opening quarter.
• The next Gettysburg drive ended in a fumble at midfield that the Diplomats took 50 yards in five plays for a 14-0 lead with Tremba hit Gary Lewis for a 37-yard strike with 13:21 to play in the second quarter. The Bullets responded with an eight-play march that went 61 yards but had to settle for a
Rob Meyer (Doylestown, Pa./Archbishop Wood) 38-yard field goal to make it 14-3 with 9:31 showing. Franklin & Marshall turned another interception by DDaniel Shakal into a three-play, 34-yard scoring drive. This time it was a six-yard Mitch Wagner run that paid off the turnover for a 21-3 lead with 4:29 on the clock.
• The Bullet offense put together an eight-play, 44-yard drive on its first possession of the second half.
Peter Schelling (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) found the endzone from two yards out with 11:39 remaining. The Diplomats immediately responded, however, after a kickoff return to midfield left the offense just 51 yards. They covered that in seven plays to make it 28-10 with 8:52 showing.
• A third interception by the F&M defense gave the hosts the ball at the Gettysburg 32. After a 29-yard pass play on the first play of the fourth quarter, Dante Wilson punched it in the final yard for the final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY
•
Ryan McAndrew finished with 11 catches for 74 yards, giving him 839 yards for the season for the third-best single-season total in program history.
