THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg limited 17th-ranked Trine to just 25.9 percent shooting from the floor and methodically built a lead, ultimately knocking off the Thunder 57-36 on the second day of the Jim Meagle Holiday Classic hosted by Marietta.
THE LEADERS
•
Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep School) finished a rebound shy of a double-double for the Bullets, scoring 10 points to go with nine rebounds. She also had three steals and a blocked shot.
•
Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) led all scorers with 15 points to go with four assists.
FOR THE FOES
• Sidney Wagner led the Thunder with 10 points and seven rebounds.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• The teams traded baskets through the game's first 5:26 before Sidney Wagner connected on a driving layup with 3:17 on the clock for an 8-7 edge and spark a 7-0 run.
AB Holsinger (Crozet, Va./Langley) canned a triple from the top of the arc with 20 ticks left for her second 3-pointer of the first period, cutting the deficit in half.
• After neither team scored for the first 3:30 of the second quarter,
Mackenzie Szlosek netted five straight to put the Bullets in front and key a 12-0 run for a 19-13 lead with 4:14 remaining. Trine countered with an 8-2 stretch that tied the game at 21-all but
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) and Holsinger both drained treys in the final minute to take a 27-21 lead in to the break.
• After
Emily Violante (Easton, Pa./Easton Area) drained a 3-pointer nearly 90 seconds into the second half to push the lead to 30-21, the Thunder went 2-for-4 from the free-throw line over the next 25 seconds but Arnolie hit a triple to ignite an 11-0 run over a 4-minute, 30-second stretch that extended the lead to 41-23 with 3:24 to play in the quarter. Trine closed the period on a 5-2 burst to pull back within 15.
• A Holsinger layup and Szlosek 3-pointer in the opening 1:41 of the final period pushed the lead to 20 for the first time. The Thunder responded with five points to get back to 48-33 with 5:34 to play but got no closer the rest of the way. Szlosek scored seven of her points down the stretch to seal the win.
THE INSIDE STORY
• The Bullets shot 42.3 percent from the floor, including hitting 10 of 25 3-point attempts. It was the third time this season that Gettysburg canned double-digit triples.

Alayna Arnolie and
AB Holsinger rounded out four Bullets in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Both players had three 3-pointers while Arnolie added four assists, two blocks and two steals.

Mackenzie Szlosek were named to the all-tournament team.
