THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg had four players score eight or more points and limited Swarthmore to 24.2 percent shooting to open the new year with a 61-32 road victory.
THE LEADERS

Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) led the Bullets with a career-best 15 points, hitting all four of her field goals and going 6-for-7 from the free-throw line.

Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) also reached double figures with 13 points.

• The first quarter went back-and-forth. An
Alayna Arnolie 3-pointer and
Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep School) layup on consecutive possessions opened up a 9-6 advantage for Gettysburg midway through the opening period. Swarthmore responded with four straight points of its own to go back in front by one but four straight points from
Marah McHugh (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) gave the Bullets a 13-10 edge after the first 10 minutes.
• Gettysburg held the Garnet without a field goal in the second quarter, building a 27-12 halftime lead. Triples from Arnolie and
Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) pushed the lead from 15-10 to 21-10 with 5:36 remaining in the quarter. Two Emily Smith free throws with two ticks remaining snapped a 13-minute, 39-second stretch without a point and closed the margin to 15 at the intermission.
• Buckets from three different players extended the lead to 33-12 n the first 1:56 of the third quarter. The lead swelled to 35-13 before Anna Hansson hit the hosts' first field goal in 17:04 with 6:37 on the clock. A
Kimberly Hopkins three-point play made it a 42-20 game before Alyssa Hayashi converted a layup with 59 seconds remaining to make it a 20-point game heading to the final period.
• Five points from Hopkins in the first 49 seconds of the fourth quarter extended the advantage to 25. The lead ballooned to 30 for the first time on two more Hopkins free throws for a 53-23 lead with 7:38 to play. The lead remained between 28 and 32 points before Swarthmore tallied six of the final seven points for the 24-point final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY
• It was the fourth time this season that Gettysburg has held an opponent to fewer than 40 points.

Shinya Lee led the way on the glass with 13 rebounds to go with three blocked shots and three steals.
•
Mackenzie Szlosek added nine points, five rebounds and four assists.
•
Marah McHugh chipped in eight points.
