FIRST PITCH: Today's non-conference game is the first-ever between Gettysburg (8-4) and Lycoming (1-6). 

LAST TIME OUT: Gettysburg had two three-run innings and a six-run bottom of the eight to defeat Thiel 14-1 in the finale of the spring-break trip on Saturday. Nathan Masteralexis earned the win on the mound, pitching five innings with three strikeouts and only one run allowed. Jack Pistner had a 3-for-5 day, including a triple. SOUTHERN SWING IN THE BOOKS: Gettysburg returns home after completing a 5-3 trip to Fort Pierce, Fla. The Bullets will now play four home games over the next three days before their first two true road games in more than three weeks next Tuesday (at Lancaster Bible) and Wednesday (at Juniata). In total over the next 14 days, Gettysburg plays 10 more non-conference games before conference play opens on Apr. 1. 

HITTIN' JACK: Jack Pistner returns north as the top hitter on the Bullets squad this season. He is hitting at a .524 clip with four doubles, five triples, and a home run for a .929 slugging percentage. Pistner has at least one hit in all 11 games he's played this season, including seven multiple-hit games.

LAST TIME OUT: Greg Wirin had a pair of hits on each end of Lycoming's MAC Freedom-season-opening doubleheader at FDU-Florham on Sunday but FDU-Florham posted a pair of wins, 8-3 and 7-2. (Full Recap) (Game 1 Box Score) (Game 2 Box Score)

BACK ON THE DIAMOND: This is the first season for the reinstated Lycoming baseball program since the program was halted following the 1971 season. After it was announced in December 2020 that the program would return, Rick Oliveri was hired in the summer of 2021 to restart the program. He had spent the previous 12 years as a coach at the Division I level, working the five years at George Washington, five at Monmouth and two years at Radford University. In 13 years as an assistant coach, he helped his teams to 10 winning seasons and 360 wins. It took him just two days into the new gig to register his first victory as Warriors skipper.

TOP HEAVY: Lycoming currently has four players with 15 or more at bats who have a batting average of .300 or better this season. Greg Wirin is hitting .467, rapping out seven knocks in 15 at bats. Nick Reeder is hitting .450 with nine hits that includes a pair of doubles. Braden Campbell is hitting .364 with eight hits, two doubles, and a team-best five RBIs. Nick Hoheb rounds out the quartet at .300 with six knocks.
