THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the top of the first, a fielder's choice sent David Preziuso home for the Bullets' first run of the first game, and Matthew Peipher (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) followed up immediately with a double to bring Jack Pistner in for a 2-0 advantage. Ryland Richardson touched home plate in the bottom of the first to put Norwich on the board.
• Several flyouts and groundouts kept both teams scoreless through the top of the fourth. In the bottom of the fourth, Sikora struck out all three batters to maintain Gettysburg's 2-1 lead. A Cadets fielding error allowed Kyle Miller (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) to reach home in the top of the fifth, and a Mabret Levant (Lakeville, Pa./Wallenpaupack Area) double brought in Peipher for a 5-1 lead. To round out the top of the fifth, Preston Toothman (Orlando, Fla./William R. Boone) reached home and Levant ran back home on a wild pitch to yield a Bullets 7-1 lead.
• A walk and a balk brought Geffen Franus to second, where Tyler Callahan knocked him in for the Cadets' final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth.
JR McCloskey (Huntingdon Station, N.Y./Chaminade) sacrificed to bring Toothman home for the Bullets' final run of the game in the top of the seventh, and Connor Sikora earned two more K's in his final inning of work.
• In the first inning of game two, Preziuso was walked for the second time on the day, before stealing second and advancing to third on an error. A Pistner single knocked him in for the Bullets' first of the second game.
• A Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) double and Levant single put Burke within scoring distance, and a sacrifice fly by Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingtson) scored the Bullets' second run of the game in the bottom of the second. A Preziuso triple brough home Levant, and a Miller double scored two more runs for the Bullets to yield their first four-run inning of the second game.
• Norwich scored their first run of the second game in the third inning, as a fielder's choice advanced Owen Silk, who scored on a single by Geffen Franus.
• Pitching changes for both teams yielded a quick bottom of the third and top of the fourth, before a Pistner triple brought in two for a 7-1 Bullets lead in the bottom of the fifth. Miller sacrified flied out to bring in Pistner, and Peipher hit it out of the park for the Bullets' second four-run inning, giving them a 9-1 lead.
• An error and two singles allowed Silk to touch home for the Cadets and score their second run of the second game in the top of the fifth.
• In the bottom of the sixth, a Pistner double and Tristan Neels (San Diego, Calif./Francis W. Parker) single helped key another two runs for the Bullets.
• Two wild pitches in a row brought in another run for the Bullets in the bottom of the seventh, but Norwich responded with a sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth to make it a 12-3 game.
• Norwich added two more runs in the top of the ninth, aided by a Cadets' double and single and Bullets' passed ball, to end the second game, 12-5.
