Hefele named to permanent baseball head coach post

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – After spending the 2026 season as interim head coach, Jeremy Hefele has been named to the permanent role, announced by Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation Troy Dell '95 on Monday.

Hefele guided the Bullets to the Centennial Conference (CC) postseason in his first year at the helm.

"Jeremy showed this past spring that our baseball program continues its upward trend under his guidance," Dell said. "I am confident that his recruitment and development of quality players on and off the field that we will remain competitive in the conference, regionally and ultimately on the national stage."

Serving a full-time assistant coach on the baseball staff since 2023, Hefele was promoted to interim coach following the 2025 season. In 2026, he led the Bullets to a 26-15 record and the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament. Gettysburg ascended to as high as 15th in the d3baseball.com national rankings and ranked in the top half of the conference in a dozen statistical categories.

Under his development, the pitching staff improved each year he has been on staff. In 2026, the group led the conference in walks per nine innings (4.34) and threw a conference-high four shutouts. The pitching corps was second in the conference in WHIP, hits per nine and strikeout-to-walk ratio and third in earned-run average.

Offensively, Gettysburg ranked eighth nationally in triples per game (0.49) and 19th in walks (256). The offense averaged 9.1 runs per game, scoring 15 or more runs in 11 games.

Defensively, the Bullets turned nearly one double play per game, ranking second in the CC and 34th in Division III with 36. The team had a .965 fielding percentage, which ranked fourth in the conference.

Prior to his arrival as pitching coach in Gettysburg, Hefele spent the 2022 season as the head coach at Clarks Summit University and was the interim head coach for the 2021 season at Cairn after serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Highlanders from 2018-20. He was also a head coach in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, guiding the Trenton Generals to the 2021 championship.

He was a four-year starting pitcher at Delaware Valley. He made 28 starts over his four years with six complete games. He earned MAC academic honors in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and was the team captain as a senior.

He earned his bachelor's in business administration, graduating cum laude from Delaware Valley before earning his MBA at Cairn.
