Lebanon Valley blanks Gettysburg

THE SKINNY STORY
Though Gettysburg took 11 shots, the Lebanon Valley back line kept Gettysburg from scoring to post their fourth shutout of the season, blanking the Bullets 3-0.

THE LEADERS
Noah Holgado (Middletown, Del./Salesianum School) had Gettysburg's best scoring opportunities, leading the team in shots on goal with two.
Kevin Muhic (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) made three saves in goal.

FOR THE FOES
• Aaron Weitzel contributed one goal and one assist for the Dutchmen.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• The Dutchmen struck early in the first half as Lucas Strange got a pass to Nathan Prex, who slotted the ball into the lower right corner of the Gettysburg goal in the 18th minute. Just 12 minutes later, Lebanon Valley struck again off an Aaron Weitzel pass to Matthew Weinstock-Collins, who went low again, but to the left this time to make it a 2-0 ballgame.
Aidan Muller had Gettysburg's best look of the half with a shot to the low right corner, but LVC's Dalton Fitterling made his first of five stops in the contest to keep the Bullets off the board.
• In the second half, Noah Holgado took the first of two shots on goal that was saved in the 58th minute. Athi Msiza (Gauteng, South Africa/Berkshire School (Mass.)) followed up just 45 seconds later with a shot of the his own, but Fitterling knocked that one away as well.
• Lebanon Valley scored their final goal of the game on a penalty kick by Aaron Weitzel that got past Muhic in the 80th minute of play.
 
THE INSIDE STORY
• The Lebanon Valley defense currently boasts a 0.60 goals against, and goalie Fitterling made five saves.
• The Dutchmen outshot the Bullets 13-11, while Gettysburg held an 8-6 advantage in corners.

Gettysburg returns to action at Swarthmore on Saturday. Game time is 7 p.m.
