THE SKINNY STORY
In a game in which both teams had opportunities, McDaniel found the back of the net in the 77th minute for a 1-0 win at Gettysburg.
THE LEADERS
•
Aidan Muller (Cape Town, South Africa/Putnam Science Academy) had the two best looks for the Bullets but was stonewalled on a pair of free-kick attempts just outside the box.
FOR THE FOES
• Mike Mevo had the lone goal for the Green Terror.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• The first half was played mostly even with the best look coming from
Aidan Muller in the 16th minute. Lining up for a free kick just outside the box on the left side, Muller bent a shot towards the upper-right corner but Tate Roth pushed the ball up and off the iron to preserve the scoreless game.
• On a free kick from a similar spot on the field about 61 minutes later, Noah Rodriguez lofted a ball into the far side of the box that bounced around before Mike Mevo collected the loose ball and fired it into the right side of the net for a 1-0 lead. Gettysburg had a couple of solid looks at the equalizer but the McDaniel defense stood strong for Roth's ninth clean sheet of the season.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg finished with a 13-9 advantage in shots and 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
• The Bullets enter the final two conference games in a position of needing wins in both games to have a chance at the six-team conference tournament.
