LANCASTER, Pa. – Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck), a junior on the Gettysburg volleyball team, has been named Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 21-27.

Huegel earned the honor for the third this season and fifth time in her career.

Huegel led the Bullets (18-4, 4-3 CC) to a pair of 3-0 road wins on the week, averaging 1.67 blocks per set. She totaled five blocks in each match on the week – at McDaniel and at Ursinus. In addition to the 10 blocks, she added 10 kills while hitting .350 to go with three aces and three digs.

For the season, she leads the team with 93 total blocks, averaging 1.19 per set. She also paces the team with 36 aces and has added 125 kills (1.60 kps).

Gettysburg returns to action at home against Dickinson on Wednesday. Match time is 7 p.m.
