THE SKINNY STORY
The Mules came out with the opening goal early in the first half. Both teams holding strong through the remainder of the first. The Bullets came out strong in the second half resulting in a goal by
Zoe Want (Redondo Beach, Calif., Redondo Union) who found the net off a rebound with just over 30 minutes left. Neither team could find the opportunity resulting in a 1-1 draw.
THE LEADERS
FOR THE FOES
- Anna May scored the lone goal for the Mules.
- Despite the draw Megan Stairs had 11 saves for the Mules.
THE REST OF THE STORY
- The start of the game saw a strong open from the Mules with a shot out left in the fifth minute. Gettysburg then saw a corner kick opportunity only for Muhlenberg to retain possession and score before the midway point in the half. An uneventful 30 minutes and it was 1-0 Muhlenberg going into the second.
- Gettysburg came onto the pitch with fire the second half and had shot after shot 10 minutes in. The Mules couldn't seem to keep possession and Want found the back of the net off of a rebound from a shot by Jane Daiutolo (Wayne, Pa., Radnor). Towards the end of the half both teams saw a few more opportunities but neither were enough resulting in a 1-1 draw.
THE INSIDE STORY
- Although the Bullets had advantages in both shots 21-5 and corner kicks 6-3 it wasn't enough to push passed the Mules.
