Gettysburg, ranked 15th in the D3hoops.com preseason poll, outscored SUNY Cobleskill 23-11 in the second quarter to take an 11-point lead into the locker room and ultimately record a 70-61 in the first round of the Pablo Coto Invitational hosted by Marymount.
THE LEADERS

Shinya Lee (Rochester, N.Y./Holderness Prep School) led the Bullets with 16 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, four blocks and two steals.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Layups from

Shinya Lee staked Gettysburg to a 4-0 lead in the first 1:25 of the game. Back-to-back
AB Holsinger 3-pointers opened up a 13-7 lead with 4:07 remaining in the first quarter. Lee made it a 17-14 game but Nana Rojas drained a 3-pointer and hit two free throws to give Cobleskill a 19-17 lead with 52 seconds remaining. Talia Washington stretched the lead to four before Holsinger connected on her third triple of the quarter to close the deficit to one after 10 minutes.

Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer for a 23-21 edge. That triple started a 17-4 run over the first 7:32 of the period. The Tigers closed to within 39-31 but Gettysburg scored four of the final five points to take a 43-32 to lead into halftime.
• Four points from Arnolie keyed a 6-2 start to the third quarter and stretched the advantage to 49-34 just 2:30 into the second half. An 8-2 Cobleskill counter cut the deficit to single digits midway through the quarter. Cara Walker made it a 59-51 game but Lee hit a jumper in the lane off a Holsinger inbounds as the period expired to take a 10-point lead to the final 10 minutes.
• The Bullets netted six of the first nine points in the fourth period to stretch the advantage to 67-54 with 6:23 remaining. Antonia May hit a layup at the other end, though, to stay within striking distance. After two Violante free throws, Logan Thayne scored five straight points to make it a 69-61 game with 2:39 to play. Holsinger hit the second of two free throws with 52.5 seconds left and the defense did not allow a good look in the final 2:30 of the game for the win.
THE INSIDE STORY

Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) added 13 points while
Alayna Arnolie added 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.
• Gettysburg finished with a 37-26 advantage on the glass and dished out 20 assists on 27 made field goals.
