LAST TIME OUT: The 2023 Gettysburg season ended in the NCAA third round with a 12-7 loss to No. 4 Christopher Newport. Kieran Ward recorded a hat trick to go with one assist and one ground ball. NO. 8 WITH A BULLET: In three polls issued so far in 2024, Gettysburg has hovered between eighth and ninth in the USILA rankings. The Bullets were the preseason No. 8 team before switching places with Lynchburg and falling to ninth in the week one poll on Feb. 5. Then on Monday, the two teams were deadlocked for the No. 8 spot in the week two poll.
DEFENSIVE MINDED: Gettysburg returns two of its top defenders and starting goalie from the 2023 campaign. Frank Barbera was a first-team all-conference performer last season and tabbed a first-team preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse. The long-stick midfielder played all 18 games and was second on the team with 51 ground balls while adding 17 caused turnovers. Andy Marquet was a second-team all-conference honoree and honorable mention preseason All-America according to Inside Lacrosse. He started all 18 games, leading the team with 25 caused turnovers to go with 47 ground balls. The defense is backstopped by honorable mention preseason All-American Chase Morgan, who started all 12 games in which he played last year with a 10.59 goals-against average and .450 save percentage.
