THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked sixth in the latest IWLCA coaches poll, scored the game's first five goals and led by no fewer than three goals the rest of the way in an 18-12 win over No. 14 York (Pa.).
THE LEADERS
•
Lily Macatee (Street, Md./North Harford) pulled down a career-high 13 draw controls, which is the second most by any Bullet in a single game in program history.
•
Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) led the Bullets with five goals, one assist, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
•
Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) chipped in a career high-tying six assists to go with two ground balls and a caused turnover.

• Gianna Huet led the Spartans with three goals and two assists.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Five goals from five different players staked Gettysburg to a 5-0 lead with 2:03 to play in the first quarter.
Jordan Basso opened the scoring just 2:18 into the game before an
Emily Crane (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) free-position tally with 11:04 remaining doubled the lead.
Meghan Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) finished a feed from
Caroline Sullivan with 8:26 showing for a 3-0 lead. Sullivan then found
Julia Daly (McLean, Va./Langley) and
Sophie Smith (Great Falls, Va./Langley) 2 minutes, 46 seconds apart to push the advantage to five late in the opening period. Zoe Kluegel broke up the shutout with 1:00 to play in the first quarter.

Ella Patterson (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) made it six different goal scorers for the Bullets just 22 seconds into the second quarter. Sofie Steel and Krista Yarusso sandwiched a Daly tally to make it 7-3 with 4:36 remaining in the opening half. Steel closed the margin to 7-4 with 1:38 showing before Sullivan once again connected with Smith for an 8-4 lead at the break.
• After Sydney Mentzer made it an 8-5 game just 95 seconds into the third quarter, Basso scored off a Suillvan feed then on a free-position attempt just over a minute apart to push the lead back to five with 10:21 on the clock. After York closed back to within 10-7,
Julie Breedveld (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) scored back-to-back tallies – off assists from Daly and Sullivan – to stretch the lead back to five with 2:53 showing. Gianna Huet and Daly traded tallies in the final minute of the quarter to made it a 13-8 score entering the final 15 minutes.
• Basso found the back of the net then hit
Emily Crane in front for goals just 18 seconds apart to stretch the lead to seven with 13:14 to play in the final period. Holding a 15-10 lead, Basso found the back of the net for the fifth time with 5:28 remaining and the teams traded tallies the rest of the way for the six-goal Gettysburg win.
