THE SKINNY STORY
Washington and Lee, ranked ninth in the latest IWLCA poll, used a big second quarter to led by four goals at halftime and outscored the Gettysburg, ranked second, 3-1 in the final quarter to seal the 13-8 victory.
THE LEADERS

Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) led the Bullets with four goals.

Lily Macatee (Street, Md./North Harford) tallied six ground balls and two caused turnovers.

• Alex Petras led all scorers with four goals.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• A Washington and Lee draw control led to the first goal of the day by Alex Petras just 37 seconds into the game.
Julia Daly (McLean, Va./McLean) countered with a goal of her own only 47 seconds later to tie the game, and
Jordan Basso scored less than a minute after that for a 2-1 Gettysburg lead. Over eight minutes elapsed before Hanna Bishop fed a pass to Petras for the Generals to tie the game.
Emily Crane (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) had the final tally of the first quarter on a woman-up free position goal for a 3-2 Bullets lead after the first 15 minutes.
• It took over five minutes for either team to score in the second period, but a
Jordan Basso solo goal with 9:07 showing allowed the Bullets to double up on the Generals, 4-2. Two straight tallies by Petras within a 33-second span tied the game, and Shannon Timoney found the back of the net for the Generals for their first lead since the first quarter. In the final 2:17 of the first half, the hosts got goals from Hanna Bishop and Betty Boatwright to lead 7-4 going into the break.

Ella Patterson (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) cut into the deficit with a goal in the opening 1:15 of play in the second half. Daly and Basso added back-to-back tallies within 23 seconds of one another to tie the game, 7-all. The score remained deadlocked until just over six minutes remained, when Walker McKnight connected for Washington and Lee. Boatwright added her second tally of the day just a few minutes later to reestablish the two-goal margin for the Generals, and Bishop put up one more with just 57 seconds left in the third period for a 10-7 advantage.
• Bishop scored another to open the final quarter of play, and Claire Horner and Julia Thomson made it a 13-7 lead with 9:01 left. Gettysburg would only put up one more in the final minutes, from a
Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) feed to Basso for a 13-8 final.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Washington and Lee outshot Gettysburg 29-26 and had the advantage in the draw control circle, 15-10.
• Both goalies made nine saves.
• Daly finished with two goals, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
