THE REST OF THE STORY
• Tied at 1-all in the first set,
Clare Farrell (Livingston, N.J./Academy of St. Elizabeth) knocked down a kill to start a 4-0 burst that gave Gettysburg a 5-1 lead. Back-to-back
Erin Gonzalez kills stretched the lead to 11-4 and Penn State-Harrisburg got no closer than three the rest of the way.
Gianna Galli (Demarest, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest) put down a kill to wrap up the 25-21 win.
• The second set was even at 2-all before Farrell once again put a ball away to start a 4-0 run. Gonzalez had both of her aces during the stretch. The lead swelled to 16-9 on a
Kendall Erpenbeck ace, forcing a Lions timeout. The 6-0 run, however, continued out of the stoppage to push the advantage to 19-9 en route to a 25-18 victory.
• Penn State-Harrisburg jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the third set but two
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) aces fueled a run of five straight points to put Gettysburg in front, 6-5. Trailing 8-6, back-to-back knockdowns from
Alycen Radolovic coupled with a block with
Ellen Manke (Madison, N.J./Morristown Beard School) sparked another run of six in a row to take an 11-8 edge. The Lions drew within one four different times but the Bullets had the answer each time, going on for the 25-22 win on the final of Farrell's six kills.
