THE SKINNY STORY
Christopher Newport outscored Gettysburg 28-0 in the second quarter to build a 40-7 lead en route to a 54-37 win.
THE LEADERS
•
Rocco Abdinoor (Edgewater, Md./St. Mary's Annapolis) led the Bullets to with 216 yards passing and two touchdowns. He also ran for another 104 and two scores.
FOR THE FOES
• Barry Connor completed 12 of 15 passes for 260 yards with two touchdowns in the first half.
• Colin Hart had three catches, including two touchdowns, for 144 yards.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Christopher Newport took the first drive of the game nine plays and 82 yards. Gunner White capped the march with a two-yard run. The Captains missed the PAT to keep it a 6-0 game with 9:19 to play in the opening quarter. On the next possession, Colin Hart needed just one play to catch a 78-yard touchdown pass but, again, the PAT was missed to keep it 12-0 with 6:21 remaining. Gettysburg, however, had an answer. Rocco Abdinoor connected with
Walle Harwigsson Lundblad (Malmo, Sweden/Rabun Gap) for a 54-yard touchdown to make it 12-7 with 4:20 to play.
• The entire second quarter, however, belonged to Christopher Newport. White capped a 10-play, 74-yard drive with a two-yard run just 1:17 into the period for a 19-7 lead. Nearly three minutes later, Trey Hayes had a 13-yard run before Hart caught a 45-yard pass with 6:33 on the clock. A 33-yard Jordan Lennon run with 3:13 showing made it 40-7 at the break.
• Just two plays into the second half, Abdinoor broke through the middle and scampered 83 yards for a touchdown and Gettysburg longest rush since 2011. Zavier Kennedy scored from two yards out seven minutes later to make it 47-15.
• NaiQuan Washington-Pearce scored in the first minute of the fourth quarter for a 54-15 lead. A one-yard Abdinoor run with 11:24 to play made it 54-21. With 6:00 left, Abdinoor hit
Danny Bonato (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) in the front corner of the end zone for the freshman's first collegiate score. Then a 33-yard Abdinoor-to-Harwigsson connection and two-point conversion set the final score with 3:14 to play.
THE INSIDE STORY
• For the second time this season,
Rocco Abdinoor had a four-touchdown game, 200-yard passing game and 100-yard rushing game.
• Christopher Newport outgained Gettysburg 595-385 on the day, including 362-216 through the air.
• Walle Harwigsson caught six passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

Brian Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Saint John Paul the Great) led the defense with seven tackles.
