THE REST OF THE STORY
• Taking over at the Gettysburg 43, Johns Hopkins moved quickly inside the 10 before the Bullet defense allowed just three yards on the next three plays to force a 22-yard Kaleb Wayt field goal and 3-0 lead with 61 seconds left in the first quarter.
• On the next Gettysburg drive, Johns Hopkins thought they had a stop on a fourth-and-1 at the Blue Jay 27. However, after review, the ruling was overturned and
Sean Clark's (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) quarterback sneak yielded a first down. Three plays later, Clark found
Danny Bonato (Rockville, Md./Good Counsel) on the right side and he tip-toed the sideline for an 18-yard touchdown and 7-3 lead with 10:02 on the clock. The Blue Jays responded on the next drive with a 12-play, 74-yard drive. Luke Baker found Robby Enright to cap the drive with a 12-yard touchdown in the front corner of the end zone to go back in front 10-7 with 4:58 to play.
• On its second drive of the third quarter, Baker and Enright connected for a second touchdown. On a fourth-and-4, the duo made it 17-7 with a 24-yard pass play for a 17-7 lead with 4:10 showing. Taking over at the Bullets 22 after a fumble, Ty Pugliano bounced a fourth-and-1 outside for a 13-yard touchdown run for a 24-7 lead with 1:12 on the clock.
• On the 10th play of the next Gettysburg, a direct snap to
Shane Donoghue (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) and the senior's first career rush yielded a touchdown, closing the deficit to 24-14 with 12:32 to play. A Baker four-yard touchdown rush on fourth down sealed the victory with 5:57 remaining. Milan Desai's five-yard run with 1:10 to play set the final margin.
