THE SKINNY STORY
Johns Hopkins, ranked third in the latest D3football.com poll, opened up a 31-0 halftime lead and defeated Gettysburg, 59-21.
THE LEADERS
•
Nick Wonsala (Manasquan, N.J./Wall Twp.) led the Bullets with three catches for 82 yards and two touchdowns.
•
Gabriel Diaz (Orlando, Fla./Winter Park) racked up 216 all-purpose yards, catching a 56-yard touchdown pass to go with seven kickoff returns for 160 yards.
FOR THE FOES
• Bay Harvey completed 23 of 29 passes for 395 yards and three touchdowns in three quarters of action.
• Cole Crotty had six catches for 168 yards and two scores.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Johns Hopkins took the opening possession 65 yards in just four plays for a 7-0 lead 2:02 into the game. Geoff Schroder caught a 22-yard pass out of the backfield then weaved down to the two-yard line on a 39-yard gain to set up a two-yard Larue Lindon touchdown grab. The next Blue Jay drive took just four players and 92 seconds. One play after not hauling in a 15-yard catch, Cole Crotty hauled in a 59-yard touchdown for a 14-0 lead with 8:53 to play.
• Johns Hopkins then put together a 15-play march on its next drive, covering 89 yards in 7:28. Crotty made it two scores on the day with a 17-yard grab on a lofted Harvey pass to make it 21-0 with 9:47 to play in the second quarter. Schroder made it 28-0 with a one-yard score in the final minute. Johns Hopkins got the ball back with 23 ticks remaining in the half and moved into field goal. Brad Paxton came up short on a 37-yard attempt with two seconds left but a roughing the kicker penalty gave him another shot from 27 and he split the uprights to make it 31-0 at the break.

Landon Hunt (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) runs and a 12-yard
Nick Wonsala touchdown on the side of the end zone to get the hosts on the board. Johns Hopkins needed just four plays to respond, though. Another short Shroeder run made it 38-7 with 10:07 showing. Crotty and Josh Moore both had big receptions to set up the short touchdown. Ty Pugliano scored from one yard out with 4:55 remaining for a 45-7 lead before
Sean Clark (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) connected with Wonsala for 62 yards and a score two plays later. Melik got into the short touchdown runs game with a seven-yard score to make it 52-14 after three quarters.
• Brock Dandridge added his own seven-yard touchdown run just 4:28 into the fourth quarter for a 49-14 advantage.
Drew Branstetter (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill) led a then led a nine-play march for the game's final score. On a third-and-12 from the Bullet 44, Branstetter hit
Gabriel Diaz down the far sideline and the freshman took it the distance with 5:36 to play.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Johns Hopkins finished with a 599-357 advantage in total offense, including 424 through the air.

Landon Hunt finished with 75 yards on 10 carries for Gettysburg.

Scott Sabol (Cary, N.C./Green Level) led the defense with four tackles and a sack. He also completed a pass for a first down on a fake punt in the third quarter.
