THE LEADERS
•
Nick Wonsala (Manasquan, N.J./Wall Twp.) led the Bullets with three total touchdowns on the day. Both of his catches went for scores and he also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
•
Michael Zrelak (Monroe, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) rushed for a season-high 205 yards to go over 1,000 for the season. He finished the year with 1,009 yards on the ground and was the first Gettysburg player since Ted Delia in 2011 to hit the single-season milestone.
•
Isaac Parks-Gill (Lewistown, Pa./Mifflin County) hit two field goals, including a career-long 49-yarder in the first half.
FOR THE FOES
• Jayden Booker led the Green Terror with 94 yards passing and two touchdowns. He was 11-for-16 through the air. He was also the team's leading rusher with 61 yards on 17 carries with a touchdown.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Gettysburg got out to a 10-0 first-quarter lead. Behind a heavy dose of
Michael Zrelak, the Bullets moved to the McDaniel 31 before the drive stalled.
Isaac Parks-Gill connected on the 49-yard attempt for a 3-0 lead midway through the period. After the Green Terror fumbled the ensuing kickoff,
Landon Hunt (Woodbridge, Va./Forest Park) moved the ball 15 yards in just two plays before
Sean Clark (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) hit
James McCarren (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) for a four-yard touchdown and Parks-Gill's PAT made it 10-0 with 6:23 showing.
• A McDaniel three-and-out and Gettysburg missed field goal set up the Green Terror at its own 29 early in the second quarter. The hosts marched 46 yards in eight plays before settling for a Braden Fritz 43-yard field goal. The defense then got an interception from Donte Evans to give the offense possession at the Bullets 27. Six plays later, Jayden Booker found Grayson Wendel for a 14-yard touchdown to tie the game with 7:19 remaining. Parks-Gill capped a 14-play, 68-yard drive that ate up 6:48 by hitting a 37-yard field goal to take a 13-10 lead in to the locker room.
• McDaniel took the opening drive of the second half 75 yards in 10 plays and a Booker touchdown run gave the hosts a three-point lead but
George Branin (Riverside, N.J./Riverside) blocked the PAT to keep it a 16-13 game. A Clark pooch punt pinned McDaniel inside the five and
Nate DeLorenzo (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) and
Justin Rhyne (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) met in the backfield for a safety to make it 16-15.
Nick Wonsala then made a housecall on the ensuing free kick, taking it 74 yards for a touchdown and 22-16 lead with 6:22 showing. Clark found Wonsala for a 22-yard touchdown on the next possession, stretching the lead to 29-16 in the final minute of the third quarter.
• McDaniel used up 6 minutes, 42 seconds to go 75 yards over 14 players before Booker again found Wendel for a nine-yard touchdown, making it a one-possession game with 8:53 to play. The Green Terror had the stop they needed with a six-yard loss on third-and-8 from the Green Terror 31. However, an unnecessary roughness call on the play gave Gettysburg a first down with 5:07 on the clock. The Bullets took the clock down to 3:37 and Clark once against connected with Wonsala for a 16-yard score and the final margin.
