THE SKINNY STORY
Randolph-Macon scored five points in the final six seconds of the first half to break a 23-all tie and did not trail in the second half to defeat Gettysburg 63-53 on the final day of the Randolph-Macon Tip-Off Classic.
THE LEADERS

Adeline Standish (Avon, Conn./Avon) led the Bullets with 14 points and 11 rebounds. She also added three blocked shots.
FOR THE FOES
• Sam Smith led the Yellow Jackets with 21 points, three assists and five steals.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• The defenses controlled the first quarter with the teams shooting a combined 6-for-33 with 10 turnovers. Erin Porter and McKenzie Matheny staked Randolph-Macon to a 4-0 lead in the game's first 2:07.
Adeline Standish (Avon, Conn./Avon) cut the deficit in half with 6:16 on the clock before the Yellow Jackets extended the lead to 8-2 but a
Briana Robles (Westchester, N.Y./Poly Prep) triple made it 8-5 after one quarter.
• Trailing 15-10 after a Matheny putback to open the second quarter, Gettysburg scored five of the next seven points to close to within 12-10 with 7:31 showing. The teams traded baskets until
Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) and
Olivia Jones (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) hit on pull-up jumpers 44 seconds apart to tie the game at 21-all. Erin Porter put the hosts back in front with a driving layup at the 1:41 mark. After Standish retied the game at 23-all, Sam Smith hit two free throws with six seconds on the clock and Porter drained a triple before the final buzzer for a 28-23 halftime edge.
• Two more Smith triples started the third quarter and stretched the lead to 34-23 with 7:23 on the clock. Gettysburg, however, scored nine of the next 11 points to pull back within 36-32 with 4:43 showing. After a Porter layup, two Jones free throws and a
Jameson Mott (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) made it a 38-36 game but the Yellow Jackets scored five points in the final 1:26 to take a 43-36 lead to the final period.
• A pair of Randolph-Macon triples in the first 3:07 of the fourth quarter opened up a 49-40 lead. Two Standish free throws with 3:23 showing closed the deficit back to 52-48 but the hosts tallied 11 of the final 13 points to win by 10, including going 7-for-8 from the stripe in the final minute.
