Gettysburg battle for CC title begins at home on Friday

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg will host one of the two semifinals of 2025 Centennial Conference (CC) men's soccer championship tournament on Friday. Game time is 5 p.m.

In the six-team format, the field will be reseeded for the semifinals. The Bullets (10-5-2, 4-2-3 CC), who are the No. 2 seed, will host the higher-seeded remaining team while Dickinson (11-0-7, 5-0-4 CC), which earned the No. 1 seed, will host the lower-seeded remaining team in the other semifinal on Friday at 5 p.m.

The first-round matchups will feature third-seeded Haverford (10-0-9, 3-0-6 CC) hosting sixth-seeded Muhlenberg (8-2-8, 3-2-4 CC) and fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins (6-6-6, 4-2-3 CC) hosting fifth-seeded McDaniel (9-4-4, 3-2-4 CC) on Tuesday. The game at Haverford will be at 2 p.m. while the game at Johns Hopkins will also begin at 7 p.m.

The semifinal winners will advance to Sunday's championship game, which will be played at the site of the highest remaining seed. Game time will be announced following the conclusion of Friday's semifinals.

Tickets will be sold for each round of the CC tournament and will be available soon on the Centennial ticketing homepage. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students age 6 through high school and senior citizens. Children five and under as well as students and staff from conference institutions are free.
The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Nov. 15. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday at 11:30 a.m.

The Bullets are seeking their fourth conference title and first since 2001. It is the 14th tournament appearance for Gettysburg and first since 2022. The Bullets also in search of their 10th NCAA tournament bid.

Gettysburg went 1-2-2 against the other five teams in the field, defeating Johns Hopkins 1-0 in Baltimore on Oct. 4. The Bullets played both Dickinson and Haverford to scoreless draws at home. Gettysburg dropped 4-2 decisions at Muhlenberg on Sept. 27 and at McDaniel on Oct. 22.

Freshmen Julius Rigo (Coatesville, Pa./Collegium Charter) and Cameron Linnington (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) are tied for the team lead with six goals each. Rigo has also handed out a team-high five assists and leads the team with 17 points. The Bullets' top four scorers are all rookies with Finn Hoefer (New York City, N.Y./Grace Church School) adding five and Diallo Cowan (Stratford, Conn./Bunnell) chipping in four.

Senior Sean Kennedy (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) has posted a 1.06 goals-against average in goal and .802 save percentage. He has played more than 1610 minutes between the pipes with eight individual shutouts.
