Gettysburg opened up a 20-point lead early in the fourth quarter before ultimately defeating Occidental 68-53 at the D3hoops.com Classic.

Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) led the Bullets with 15 points and seven rebounds.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Behind six points from Ainsley Shelsta, Occidental built a 10-2 lead through the game's first 3:28. Three different Gettysburg players scored baskets to close within 10-8 with 2:49 showing in the first quarter. The Tigers extended the lead back to five but a
Skylar Reale (Warren, N.J./Morristown Beard) follow-up after a miss on the break made it a 13-10 game after 10 minutes.

Reagan Chrencik (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) layup off an inbounds gave the Bullets a 16-15 edge with 8:22 on the clock. After Dara Tokeshi responded on the break,
Adeline Standish (Avon, Conn./Avon) found
Kimberly Hopkins under the basket on the break then Robles did the same to Chrencik for a 20-17 lead that forced a timeout with 5:48 remaining. A pair of Hopkins pull-up jumpers extended the lead to 24-17 before Kayla Ikuma halted the 12-3 run with a triple. Gettysburg, though, closed the half with eight of the final 11 points to take a 32-23 lead into the break.
• Shelsta hit the first basket of the third quarter for Occidental but then a Hopkins 3-pointer sparked an 11-2 run that opened up a 43-27 lead with 6:25 remaining. An
Olivia Jones 3-pointer that bounced home gave the Bullets a 48-32 lead with 71 seconds to play in the quarter before Nicole Vanegas made the first of two free throws to make it a 15-point game entering the final period.
• Five more points from Jones made it a 20-point lead for the first time just 1:23 into the fourth quarter. The Tigers responded with the game's next eight points. Paige Yasukochi hit a triple to cap the run, making it a 53-41 game with 6:07 to play. A Hopkins basket from short range snapped a 3-minute, 2-second scoring drought. Occidental got to within 63-53 on a Ko triple with 1:41 to play but Gettysburg tallied the final five points to wrap up the win.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg shot 45.2 percent from the floor while holding Occidental to 31.0 percent.

Reagan Chrencik and Skyler Reale also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. The duo also combined for 15 rebounds as part of a 45-38 advantage.

Briana Robles dished out a career-high eight assists.
