THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg had five wrestlers on the podium, finishing fifth at the 2025 Centennial Conference wrestling championship hosted at Gettysburg. The Bullets finished with 54.5 points, one point behind McDaniel for fourth place.
THE LEADERS
•
Justin Richey (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) was the lone individual champion for the Bullets, winning at 165. Richey received an opening-round bye before getting a pin just before the expiration of time in the semifinal. In the championship bout, Richey held on to edge Ursinus' Braden Kmak, 14-12. Richey is the first Gettysburg wrestler to win at the weight class since 1996 when Chris Clifford, who is the namesake for the conference award given to the senior wrestler with the most points at the conference wrestling championship, won the title.
FOR THE FOES
• Merchant Marine edged Ursinus for its fifth championship overall and first since 2011. The Mariners won two of the final three weight classes to finish with 82 points while the Bears finished with 80.5 points. Muhlenberg was third with 68 points.
THE REST OF THE STORY
•
Ethan Composto (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) placed second at 149. He notched a 15-0 technical fall early in the second period to open his day before edging Freddy Primental (Johns Hopkins) 6-4 in the semifinals. In a finals rematch with McDaniel's Thomas Monn – Composto's lone loss, Monn held a 4-1 edge midway through the third period before a takedown and nearfall finished off an 11-1 major decision.
•
Gavin Pascoe (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) made it back-to-back second-place finishes, taking runner-up at 157. His day started with a 3-minute, 58-second pin over Fritz Maurath (Johns Hopkins) and 8-6 win over Edward Pinc (Merchant Marine) to advance to the title bout. Once again, it was a Green Terror getting the better of the battle with Xavier Howard winning, 7-3.
•
Noah Hinkel (Marietta, Pa./Donegal) finished third at 125. He dropped a 9-2 decision to Ursinus' Franco Mazza in the semifinals and defeated McDaniel's Alex DuFour 4-3 in the third-place match.
•
Brendan Callahan (Woolrich Twp., N.J./Kingsway Regional) was also third at 141. After starting with a bye, he dropped a 6-3 decision to Muhlenberg's Andrew Loniewski in sudden victory during the semifinals. Callahan then topped Merchant Marine's Charles Lausten 8-1 in the third-place bout.
•
Carson Pascoe (Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) started a run of three straight fourth-place finishes to close out the day. His day started with a bye at 184 before eventual champion Tyler Withers (Merchant Marine) pinned Pascoe in 2:16. Pascoe then got a 1-minute, 27-second fall in the consolation semifinals before falling to Muhlenberg's Ryan Fairchild 16-8 in the third-place match.
•
Phil Nave (Venetia, Pa./Peters Twp.) was also fourth at 197. After a bye, Grant Mathias pinned Nave right at the end of the first period. Nave then bounced back in the consolation semifinals to pin Ursinus' Connor Fritsch in 4:22. In the consolation final, Paul Parise rallied to edge Nave 17-16 late.
•
Simon Taylor (Alexandria, Va./Woodbury Forest School) opened with a 5-1 win over Johns Hopkins' Jake Pomykata but then fell to eventual championship Reid Garrison in the semifinal with a first-period pin. Taylor added a second win with a 9-3 victory over McDaniel's Ezekiel Gayle but Mohamed Abdelatty (Urisinus) recorded a first-period fall of Taylor in the third-place match.
