Gettysburg, ranked ninth in the latest IWLCA Div. III coaches' poll, limited No. 19 Denison to just one goal in the game's first 34 minutes to key a 16-6 win in the home opener.
THE LEADERS

Lily Macatee (Street, Md./North Harford) led the defensive effort for the Bullets with six draw controls and three ground balls.

Emily Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) led the attack with four goals and one assist to go with six draw controls.
FOR THE FOES
• Sydney Lavin led the Big Red with two goals and two ground balls.
THE REST OF THE STORY

Emily Crane found the back of the net with an unassisted tally midway through the first quarter before finishing a second solo run just over five minutes later for a 2-0 lead.
Julia Daly (McLean, Va./Langley) found
Michaela Kelly (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) just 20 seconds later for a 3-0 lead after a first quarter in which Gettysburg outshot its guest, 11-0.
• Daly returned the favor for Kelly with 11:38 to play in the second quarter before the two connected in an advantage situation nearly a minute later for a 5-0 lead. Anan DeVuono broke up the shutout with 6:18 showing before
Sarah Scollin (Oreland, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) started a four-goal run in the final 2:59 of the first half to take a 9-1 lead to the break.
Nina Marra (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood),
Grace Battle (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) and Kelly capped the run.
• Crane scored her third just 3:10 into the third quarter before Madison Goldstein responded a minute later. Daly and Sydney Lavin traded markers to make it an 11-3 game after three quarters.
• Crane finished a solo run for her fourth and Daly converted a free-position for her fourth just 17 seconds apart to push the game to running clock with 10:11 to play. The teams traded tallies the rest of the way with Marra, Scollin and Battle all finding the back of the net for a second time.
THE INSIDE STORY

Julia Daly finished with four goals on five shots to go with one assist and three ground balls.
• Gettysburg finished with a 38-17 advantage in shots and 17-6 advantage in draw controls.
