THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked ninth in the latest IWLCA Div. III coaches' poll, scored seven of the game's final eight goals to break open an 8-6 game and take down No. 4 Washington and Lee, 15-7.
THE LEADERS
•
Emily Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) led the Bullets with five goals and four draw controls.
•
Sarah Scollin (Oreland, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) recorded her first collegiate hat trick with four goals and added one assist, four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
•
Lily Macatee (Street, Md./North Harford) led the defense with eight draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover.
FOR THE FOES
• Betty Boatwright led the Generals with two goals, three caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls.
• Lara Baki added three goals on three shots.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Buoyed by winning the game's first three draw controls, Washington and Lee raced out to a 3-0 lead on three shots in the game's first 2:04. Lara Baki scored the first two before Betty Boatwright made it 3-0. Gettysburg, however, responded with three straight goals on its first three shots of the game, tying the game with 10:25 to play in the opening quarter.
Sophie Smith (Great Falls, Va./Langley) got the Bullets on the board with 12:16 showing before
Julia Daly (McLean, Va./Langley) scored 24 seconds later and
Emily Crane capped the run. Caroline Foster put the Generals back in front with 7:23 on the clock but Gettysburg went back to work with another three straight.
Sarah Scollin got her first with 5:31 showing before Smith put the Bullets in front for good nearly two minutes later.
• Crane found the back of the net for the second time just 1:34 into the second quarter. Boatwright trimmed the deficit back to one with 12:19 remaining but Scollin and Crane both finished solo runs 65 seconds apart for an 8-5 edge. After Hannah Von Son finished the second Claire Horner assist, Scollin found the back of the net for the third time with 1:08 to play in the opening half, making it a 9-6 game at the break.
• Smith capped her hat trick in the opening minute of the third quarter before Crane scored with 6:48 on the clock for the only other tally of the frame.
• Baki snapped a 19-minute, 20-second scoring drought for W&L before
Grace Battle (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) found a cutting Scollin with 11:36 to play.
Michaela Kelly (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) snuck one inside the right post before Crane and Daly finished off the scoring 37 seconds apart to set the final margin with 7:06 to play.
THE INSIDE STORY

Camryn Epstein (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) added two ground balls and two caused turnovers to the defense.

Ella Patterson (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) added three caused turnovers and a ground ball.
• Julia Day finished with two goals but added three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
• Gettysburg finished with a 30-11 advantage in shots and 14-10 edge in draw controls.
