THE LEADERS
•
Maddie Passarello (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) led the Bullets with a career-high seven goals on nine shots. She also won a career-best four draw controls.
•
Emily Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) also reached a career high with six goals and matched her career best with seven points. She secured eight draw controls and had three ground balls.
FOR THE FOES
• Kat Thayer led the Green Terror with three goals and an assist to go with three draw controls.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Kat Thayer staked McDaniel to a 1-0 lead just 55 seconds into the game. However, back-to-back
Maddie Passarello markers just 1:45 apart turned the early one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead with 11:50 on the clock. An
Emily Crane free-position tally with 10:19 to play stretched the lead to 3-1 before Passarello completed her hat trick less than two minutes later. Two more Crane tallies – the first off
Julia Daly's (McLean, Va./Langley) second assist completed her hat trick and made it 6-1 after one quarter.
• Jordan Gambrill converted a free-position tally with a player advantage less than a minute into the second period. Crane then found Daly to make it 7-2 before Charlotte Alexander cut the margin to four with 4:50 to play in the period.
Meghan Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) found
Lauren O'Connell (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) off a McDaniel turnover in its defensive end then Daly forced another turnover and took the loose ball to goal for a 9-3 halftime advantage.
• Paris Canord and Emily Conklin finished solo runs in the first five minutes of the third quarter to make it 9-5.
Grace Battle (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal Academy) lasered home an eight-meter shot to push the lead back to 10-5 midway through the period. Two unassisted goals from Thayer made it 10-7 and forced a timeout with 1:31 to play. Daly found Passarello just 52 seconds out of the stoppage to regain momentum entering the final quarter.
•
Dillon Troy (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) raced up field and hit Passarello in transition for her second assist of the game and second of the season for a 12-7 lead just over two minutes into the fourth quarter. Two more Crane goals stretched the lead to 14-7 with 10:59 to play. Another Daly-to-Passarello connection and a Daly wraparound tally in a 43-second span put the lead at 16-7 midway through the final quarter. Crane's sixth of the day on a free-position attempt got the lead to 10 with 6:29 remaining. Passarello dropped home a goal off
Kate Evans' (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) first collegiate point made it 18-7 with 4:36 remaining before Addison Utterback set the final margin two minutes later.
