THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked fourth in the preseason IWLCA Div. III coaches' poll, had a five-goal and four-goal scoring run to help defeat No. 14 Stevens, 12-7.
THE LEADERS
•
Grace Battle (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) led the Bullets with five goals and one assist for six points. She also won six draw controls.
FOR THE FOES
• Stefanie Sellitto led the Ducks with two goals, five draw controls and three ground balls.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Stefanie Sellitto staked Stevens to a 2-0 lead just two minutes into the game with a pair of goals.
Grace Battle finished a solo run with 11:15 on the clock to cut the deficit in half but Maddie Hogan and Alina Friz both found the back of the net to stretch the lead to 4-1 with 6:25 remaining.
Maddie Passarello (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) continue the run of unassisted tallies with a marker at the 1:49 mark to make it 4-2 after one quarter.
• Battle scored just 22 seconds into the second quarter and
Sarah Scollin (Orefield, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) netted the equalizer with 12:44 showing. Battle gave the Bullets their first lead four minutes later and a
Michaela Kelly (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) free-position tally with 44 ticks left made it a 6-4 game at the break.
• Alison Murray finished an Abby O'Brien feed in the opening minute of the second half and Hogan retied the game with 11:22 showing. Battle, however, put the hosts back in front – this time for good – with 6:59 to play.
Meghan Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) found a cutting
Riley Kenrick (Verona, N.J./Verona) nearly two minutes later to reestablish the two-goal lead. Another free-position marker from Passarello made it 9-6 after three quarter.
• Scollin converted on an eight-meter shot in the opening minute of the fourth to cap the 4-0 Gettysburg run. Friz dodged off a free-position attempt of her and rifled one home with 12:19 to play but Battle hit the Bullets' fourth free-position goal of the day with 5:57 on the clock then found Scollin to complete the sophomore's hat trick with 1:23 to play.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg had a 27-17 advantage in shots while Stevens won the draw control battle 12-9 and held the edge in ground balls, 17-13.

Lauren Bloch (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) led the defense with three ground balls and a caused turnover.
