THE REST OF THE STORY
Ethan Kessler had a hand in each of the first four goals of the game. He scored the first goal just 1:41 into the game before finding Colin Johnston (Northport, N.Y./St. Anthony's) with 12:21 showing. Just 1:28 later, Kessler hit Jackson Barroll (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) for a 3-0 lead and then the same duo connected with 10:15 showing. Jacob Goldstein won the ensuing faceoff and went right to goal for a 5-0 lead just six seconds later. Peyton Larocco got Stevenson on the board with 6:23 to play in the opening quarter before Jackson Hearn (Houston, Texas/Episcopal Bellaire) connected with Will Hedley (Charlotte, N.C./The Hotchkiss School) in transition to spark another three-goal run with 4:10 showing. Declan Mack (Wynnewood, Pa./Lower Marion) and Patrick Maroney (Hingham, Mass./Boston College H.S.) each finished solo runs for an 8-1 lead with 1:54 remaining. Zachary Cotton made it 8-2 with 39 ticks left.
Ryan Sims (Newtown Square, Pa./Malvern Prep) and Matt Maciolek (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) got in on the action with solo runs around a Hearn-to-Kessler connection for an 11-2 lead with 9:53 on the second quarter clock. Darrell Curtis and Max Racich each found the back of the net to pull the Mustangs within 11-4 at the break.
• Kessler hooked up with Johnston for the second time before Barroll completed his hat trick with 9:39 to play in the third. After another Curtis tally, Luke Barbera (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) became the 10th different Bullet to find the back of the net with 5:37 on the clock. After a Racich goal, Tate Kuster (Williamstown, Mass./The Williston Northampton School) scored the second FOGO goal directly off the draw for a 15-6 lead after three.
• Maciolek extended the lead to 10 just 37 seconds into the final stanza before six different Mustangs scored over the final 12:22 to set the four-goal final margin.
