THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked 25th in the latest D3baseball.com poll, rallied with four runs late to edge Monmouth 9-8 before using that momentum for a 17-3 victory over Franciscan.

THE LEADERS
Dominick Balsamo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) led the Bullets with six hits on the day, recording three hits in each game.

FOR THE FOES
• Aiden Scott led the Scott with two hits and two walks.
• Josiah Bodie had a hit, RBI, walk and run scored to lead the Barons.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener against Monmouth, Cade Farquer led off the second inning with a triple before a two-out triple from Logan Struberf staked the Scots to a 1-0 lead.
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) was hit by a pitch with one out in the third before a Will Bercaw (Langhorne, Pa./The Pennington School) single and Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) sacrifice fly tied the game at 1-all.
• Two singles and a fielder's choice put runner at the corners with one out in the bottom of the third before an error broke the tie. Zach Almaguer and Gabe Zigler each followed with doubles to make it 4-1. A two-out hit by pitch and Aidan Parkins double stretched the lead to 7-1.
Dominick Balsamo singled with one out in the fourth before a Mike Coleman (Drexel Hill, Pa./Monsignor Bonner) single and Will Roche (Milton, Mass./Boston College H.S.) sacrifice fly cut the margin to 7-2.
• A one-out Bercaw single, Murphy walk, double steal and Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) double to the gap trimmed the deficit to 7-4 in the fifth. Balsamo added a two-out single up the middle that made it 7-5.
• The Scots stretched the lead back to three with an Eric Campen leadoff double in the sixth, single and double play.
Brayden Casas (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) poked a pinch-hit single to right to start the eighth before Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) followed with a double to left. With two outs, Murphy got a single to drop into shallow center to make it an 8-7 game.
• With two outs, a walk and hit batter put two on in the ninth before Laqui dropped a ball into right-center that was just out of the reach of a diving outfielder to turn the one-run deficit into a one-run lead. Alex Bergen (Potomac, Md./Good Counsel) struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to pick up the win in relief.
• A walk, stolen base, flyout and wild pitch staked Franciscan to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first but Gettysburg responded with five in the bottom of the frame. Bercaw started the parade of four straight hits with a double. A Coleman sacrifice fly made it 2-1 before Jack Amirata (Montclair, N.J./Montclair Kimberley Academy) walked and Roche poked a double to the gap for a 4-1 lead. A Laqui RBI groundout capped the scoring in the frame.
• Back-to-back singles and a Holden Armstrong RBI groundout cut the deficit to 5-2 but the Bullets got a lineout double play on a bunt attempt.
• In the bottom of the inning, 12 batters came to the plate and eight runs scored for a 13-2 lead. Balsamo had a two-run single in the inning and Murphy poked a double to left and triple to right for the big knocks of the frame.
• A two-run, two-out Laqui double made it 15-2 in the third.
• A two-out Nicholas Peffer single, walk and Josiah Bodie single made it 15-3 in the top of the fifth before four free passes in the bottom of the inning set the final margin.
