THE SKINNY STORY
Dickinson, ranked 13th in the latest USILA Div. III coaches' poll, prevailed in a back-and-forth affair with No. 10 Gettysburg, building a late two-goal lead before holding on for a 12-11 home win.
THE LEADERS

Charlie Johnson (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) led the Bullets with his second straight five-goal game. He also picked up four ground balls.

• Taner Marusa led the Red Devils with three goals and two ground balls.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• The first quarter featured nine combined goals on just 13 shots on goal.
Ethan Kessler (Ridgefield, Conn./Millbrook School) opened the scoring, firing from distance on the game's first shot just 41 seconds into the game. Drew Stark responded at the other end less than a minute later.
Charlie Johnson needed just 10 seconds to take a pass from
Jackson Barroll (Annapolis, Md./Severn School) and put it in the back of the net. Mac Childs evened the game one again before Kessler scored at the other end for a 3-2 lead with 10:27 to play. Man-up tallies on a locked-in penalty from Ramsey Huggins and Taner Maruso put Dickinson in front for the first time with 9:16 showing. Johnson scored off a turnover on the clear attempt to tie the game at 4-all with 7:38 on the clock. Luke Whalen dodged and converted late in the clock for a 5-4 edge with 3:20 remaining in the period.
• Marusa opened up the first two-goal lead of the game six minutes into the second quarter.
Jackson Hearn (Houston, Texas/Episcopal Bellaire) found Johnson on the doorstep to snap a 17-minute, 40-second scoring drought. Just over three minutes later, Johnson did the work himself to for his fourth of the first half, tying the game at 6-all.
• Kessler bounced one into the lower-left corner to take a 7-6 lead with 12:00 to play. However, two more man-up tallies on a locked-in penalty from Marusa and Ben Monroe once again turned the one-goal deficit into a one-goal lead for the hosts with 9:38 showing. Kessler got the game back even off a quick-stick pass from Barroll for a man-up tally with 6:20 on the clock. Stark ripped one from deep in the final minute to tie the game heading to the final period.
• Sam Bunten scored off a long pass in transition for a 10-9 Red Devil advantage with 13:04 to play. A Preston Boyd tally in an unsettled situation pushed the lead to two with 8:47 remaining. After Johnson and Whalen traded goals 75 seconds apart to keep it a two-goal game, Kessler found Barroll on the left wing to cut the deficit to one with 1:16 to play. Gettysburg won the ensuing faceoff but couldn't get the equalizer.
