THE FACTS
Gettysburg (1-0) 3, Penn State-Harrisburg (1-1) 1
What: Non-conference volleyball match
When: Wednesday, Sept. 2
Where: Middletown, Pa.

THE SKINNY STORY
After Penn State-Harrisburg scored the first six points of the match to key an opening-set victory, Gettysburg pulled away in each of the next three sets for a 3-1 road win in its season opener.

THE LEADERS
Clare Farrell (Livingston, N.J./Academy of St. Elizabeth) led the Bullets with a career-high 19 kills. She also added 10 digs for her second career double-double.
Erin Gonzalez (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) added 12 kills against just one error. She also chipped in nine digs.

FOR THE FOES
• Camryn Wettstone led the Lions with 15 kills.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Two Brianna Ondishin Ribon aces and a pair of Camryn Wettstone kills staked Penn State-Harrisburg to a 6-0 lead in the first set. Three straight points from Gianna Galli (Demarest, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest), including a solo block closed the deficit to 15-10. Gettysburg closed to within three twice. An Erin Gonzalez kill made it 22-18 but the Lions scored three of the final four points for a 25-19 opening-set win.
• Trailing 7-6 after a back-and-forth start to the second set, an Eliza Jauregui (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) kill tied the set and started an 8-2 run to open up a 14-9 lead and the Bullets did not relinquish the lead the rest of the set. After a Wettstone kill made it 17-13, four straight Harrisburg errors pushed the lead back to seven en route to a 25-17 Gettysburg win.
• A block from Galli and Gonzalez followed by a Jauregui kill gave the Bullets a 2-0 lead in the third set and did not trail the entire set. Holding a 10-8 lead, Gettysburg scored six of the next seven points to build a 16-9 lead en route to a 25-17 victory.
• A Gonzalez ace and kill turned an early 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead in the fourth set. After the teams traded points, two Clare Farrell kills and a Nala Shearer (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) ace opened up a 12-8 lead. On top 17-12, Galli and Gonzalez combined to put down four straight kills as part of a 7-0 run to reach match point before Gonzalez put down the winner to cap the night with a 25-16 win.

THE INSIDE STORY
Nala Shearer led the defense for the Bullets with 27 digs.
Halle Feth (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) chipped in 25 assists and 12 digs.
