High-caliber play and outstanding sportsmanship are the hallmarks of the Bullets' men's basketball program.
Gettysburg has qualified for the Centennial Conference playoffs nine times in the last 15 years, capturing the title in 2001, 2002, and 2009. Those first two titles made the Bullets the first conference team ever to win back-to-back basketball championships.
The team has made five trips to the NCAA Division III tournament, and has also qualified three times for the ECAC tournament, finishing second in 1999. In 2007-08, Gettysburg made a remarkable run to the NCAA "Sweet Sixteen" and finished with a school-record 24 wins.
The globe-trotting Bullets play an ambitious schedule that has included four trips to Europe, Italy, and three to California in recent years.
The Bullets continue to set and break new marks year-in-and-year-out. During the 2019-20 campaign, the Bullets set a new program standard with 200 made three-pointers. The team topped the old mark of 199 which was achieved four times, including last season. Gettysburg's three-point field-goal percentage (.380) was the best since 1998-99 (.382).
Only 16 players in program history have dished 200 or more career assists with
Danny Duffey '20 surpassing the all-time leader in assists mark in 2019-20. He finished his career in the orange and blue as the most prolific passer at Gettysburg. He turned in 330 career assists, which is 60 more than previous record holders
Andrew Powers '11 and
Steve Gordon '96. Duffey is the only Bullet with two 90-assist seasons, recording those in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
One of the program's proudest accomplishments is being a two-time winner of the prestigious Schoenfeld Award, presented annually by college basketball officials to recognize "the highest degree of sportsmanship, character and ethics."
