Devin O’Neill concluded his seventh season in 2009 and his 11th as a collegiate head coach. O’Neill closed the 2009 season with an overall career record of 92-90-21, including 68-46-18 with the Bullets which puts him third in victories in school history.

O’Neill guided the Bullets to winning records in each of his seven seasons, including a dozen wins in both 2006 and 2007. The team finished runner-up in the CC in 2005 and 2007 and has qualified for the postseason five times. In 2006, the Bullets posted a record of 12-6-4, lost on penalty kicks in the CC title game, and advanced to the title game of the ECAC Division III South Tournament. Over the last seven seasons, the Bullets have garnered 27 All-CC citations and nine NSCAA All-East Region nods.

With O’Neill leading the way, Gettysburg has made it standard to play some of the top teams in NCAA Division III, including perennial national powerhouses Messiah College, York (Pa.) College, and Johns Hopkins University. The Bullets pose a stiff test to any institution and have beaten a top-20 team in each of the last three seasons.

A native of Springfield, Mass., and a 1991 graduate of Middlebury, O'Neill came to Gettysburg after compiling a 24-44-3 record in four seasons at East Carolina. In 2000, he guided the Pirates to an 8-11 mark, the second-highest single-season victory total in program history. The following year, he led ECU to only its fourth seven-win season in the past 21 years and its first victory over a ranked opponent since 1997.

Before arriving in Greenville, N.C., O'Neill spent two years as an assistant coach at Ohio State University, helping the Buckeyes reach the Big Ten semifinals in 1997 and 1998. He was also an assistant for one year at Fresno State University, where he served as an instructor in the department of kinesiology, and for two years at Lafayette College, where he helped the Leopards win back-to-back Patriot League titles in 1994 and 1995.

At Middlebury, O'Neill was a four-year letterwinner and senior captain with the men's soccer program, earning a spot on the All-New England Region team in 1990. In addition to soccer, he was a two-time All-American skier and a member of the golf team for two years. He earned a master's degree from Springfield (Mass.) College in 1993.

In addition to his soccer duties at Gettysburg, O’Neill is in his third year as an assistant with the women’s golf team which claimed its first Centennial Conference Championship in 2008.
