Ashley Mowery, a former field hockey standout at Messiah College, enters her 11th season as an assistant coach with the field hockey program at Gettysburg College in 2021. Mowery also serves as a member of the Bullets’ strength and conditioning staff.

Mowery has helped the team post 72 victories in her nine full seasons on the coaching staff. In 2012, the field hockey team finished 12-5 and earned a spot in the Centennial Conference playoffs. The Bullets added 10 more wins in 2013 and narrowly missed a spot in the playoffs. Last fall, Gettysburg made a triumphant return to the postseason, winning its conference playoff opener and battling sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins University to a one-goal decision in the semifinals.

During her tenure, Mowery has coached 18 all-conference selections and seven all-region selections. In 2014, Mowery coached both of her sisters on the field hockey team, Lexie '15 and Haley '18. Haley led the conference in saves and was named All-CC First Team in 2017. The Mowery family has a long legacy at Gettysburg College that goes back more than nine decades and four generations.

Mowery also spent four seasons as an assistant coach with the softball program from 2012-15. She served as interim head coach in the spring of 2013, steering the squad to a 17-21 mark. In 2015, the softball team won 30 games, set 13 team records, and finished runner-up in the Centennial Conference. In her four seasons on the softball staff, Gettysburg posted a record of 88-68.

As a four-year starting goalkeeper at Messiah, Mowery helped guide the Falcons to an outstanding four-year run from 2006-09. The team advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four in three of her four years and as a senior in 2009, she helped Messiah to a 22-1 record and a berth in the national championship game. Mowery was a three-time All-American, a four-time all-region selection, and a three-time All-Commonwealth Conference honoree.

After graduation, Mowery served as an assistant coach at Messiah in 2010, working with the goalkeepers and helping the Falcons to a second-straight appearance in the national championship game. Mowery also competed in softball for one season at Messiah, but was forced to stop playing due to an injury. However, she stayed involved in the sport by serving as an assistant coach at Camp Hill High School in 2008-09.

A Dillsburg native and a graduate of nearby Northern York H.S., Mowery graduated from Messiah in 2010 with a degree in health and exercise science.Â
