Jennifer Mower enters her fourth year as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications heading into 2021-22.
Mower serves a vital role in the marketing and communication efforts for Gettysburg’s 24-sport varsity athletic teams, and is the primary media contact for men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, indoor/outdoor men’s and women’s track and field, men’s and women’s basketball, women’s golf, and softball. She also aids the office's efforts to promote all of the Bullets' programs to local, regional, and national media outlets.
In her first year, Mower helped host the NCAA Division III Tournament for women’s basketball (first and second round), men’s lacrosse (second round), and women’s lacrosse (first, second, and regional round), while also hosting the Centennial Conference Championship in women’s basketball. She continued to promote Gettysburg's presence on the national stage representing the institution in the NCAA playoffs with the men's and women's soccer programs and women's basketball during the 2019-20 season and softball in 2021.
When it comes to social media Mower helps manage nearly 17,500 followers across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, which ranks among the top in Division III College athletics. She also assists in the production of live video streaming of home events, which includes multiple camera angles. More than 110,000 viewers have watched the Bullets compete on the field over the last three years.
Mower is a Hall of Athletic Honor Selection Committee member and serves as a Student-Athlete Well-Being Dimension Leader at Gettysburg.
A CoSIDA member since 2018, Mower has attended conventions in Washington D.C. and Orlando, Fla.
Prior to Gettysburg, Mower spent the 2017-18 year as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Muskingum University. She served as the primary media contact for several teams and promoted the Muskies on all social media platforms. Mower oversaw a student workforce and wrote several releases for the athletics website. In addition, Mower had the opportunity to serve as a Media Relations Assistant at the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Final Four in nearby Columbus, Ohio.
Including her time at Muskingum, Mower spent four years in the Buckeye state, first serving as a graduate assistant at Malone University before gaining an internship at Walsh University. At Malone, she was the primary contact for men's and women's soccer and softball. She initiated several social media initiatives and directed a video series called "Fire Away with Malone Athletes."
Mower, who earned her master's in organizational leadership at Malone, also worked two years as Reimbursement Coordinator at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
A graduate of Niagara University with a degree in sports management, Mower received her start in sports information as a volunteer at Utica College in 2013-14. She assisted the sports information office with statistics and wrote press releases on athletic events. Mower also served as a marketing intern at Syracuse University during her undergraduate career.
