GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Junior
Nicole Burns (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro) posted 10 kills on 14 attempts to lead Gettysburg College to a 3-0 victory over visiting Dickinson College in Centennial Conference volleyball action Wednesday night in Bream Gym. The two teams also took part in the conference's “Digging for a Cure” campaign as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and finished with a combined 121 digs.
Gettysburg (18-7, 7-2 CC) earned its seventh-straight victory and clinched a berth in the Centennial Conference Tournament slated for Nov. 7-8. The Bullets won the first set handily 25-12 before coming on strong late for 25-15 and 25-20 decisions in the remaining two sets.
Burns posted a season-high attack percentage of .714 and was error-free for the first time this season. Tying her for team honors on the attack were junior
Kate Yoder (Emmaus, Pa./Emmaus) and sophomore
Virginia Hogan (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee) with 10 kills apiece.

Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) was one off her season-high with five kills and also totaled 31 assists, two aces, and 17 digs. Senior libero
Kristin Kotewicz (Columbia, Md./river Hill) led the defense with 18 digs, while senior
Stephanie Rickabaugh (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) had a hand in all aspects of the match, turning in four kills, eight assists, eight digs, and one block assist.
Both Gettysburg and Dickinson were playing for a higher cause on Wednesday night as each team was trying to raise money to help wage the war against breast cancer. The teams took donations and pledges for each dig they recorded in the match, with all the proceeds being donated to
Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LBBC), a non-profit organization based in Haverford, Pa.
Gettysburg wraps up the regular season this Friday, Oct. 30, at Muhlenberg College at 7 p.m. If the standings hold true to form, the Bullets would enter the CC Tournament as the No 3 seed and would play Franklin & Marshall College in the semifinals at Haverford College next Saturday.
