GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Déjà vu was the theme during the Gettysburg College softball doubleheader against Swarthmore College on Sunday as the host Bullets rallied in their last at bat in the opener and the nightcap for a Centennial Conference sweep of the Garnet. Gettysburg took the first contest 2-1 as the game-winning run came around on a throwing error in the seventh inning, while in game two, the Bullets picked up a pair of runs in their final trip to the plate, capped by a two-out, game-winning RBI single by senior Erin Ober (Lutherville, Md./Dulaney).

Gettysburg (22-9-1, 7-4-1 CC) tallied the day's first run in its first at bat in the opener as senior Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) singled to lead off the game and came around to score on a passed ball. That would be the only offense in the first six frames as the Bullets' Kristy Rubino (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) and Swarthmore's (12-19, 2-10 CC) Alexandra Zelaski combined for only five hits allowed over that span.

In the top of the seventh, the Garnet got on the board as Melissa Emmerson brought in the tying run with a single up the middle and Kathryn Riley deftly avoided the tag at home plate. A pair of lefties started the bottom half of the inning with sophomore Caitlin Bay (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata) drawing a lead-off walk. Sophomore Casey Bialek (Glenville, Pa./South Western) laid down a bunt with two strikes right in front of the plate and her speed led to an errant throw to first. Bay never slowed around second and dashed all the way home for the winning run.

Yannotta was perfect at the plate in the opener, going 3-for-3 with a stolen base. Senior Jessica Wallick (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) added a hit in her final at bat, while Ober was hit twice with pitches. Rubino improved to 10-6 on the year after allowing only two hits and one run, while striking out four.

Gettysburg once again took command in the nightcap, with Yannotta leading off with a walk and coming around to score on a single by Ober through the right side. Ober swiped a pair of stolen bases to get to third with one out, but Riley closed the inning herself with a strikeout and a grounder to the mound.

Game two took on a familiar tone to the opener as Riley and Gettysburg junior Beth McCullough (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) went toe-to-toe with neither starting allowing a run from the second inning until the top of the sixth. In that sixth frame, the Garnet struck with two outs as Krista Scheirer laced a double off the fence in right-center to plate a pair of runs.

Action
With Swarthmore leading 2-1 heading into the bottom of the seventh, freshman Catrina DelGais (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) hit a double down the line in left. Bay sacrificed the runner over to third and Yannotta reached base for the sixth time on the day with a walk. The senior veteran rounded first and started for second, drawing a throw from the catcher. DelGais seized the opportunity and dashed home, sliding in safely before the throw reached its mark and tying the game (pictured right).

Yannotta advanced to second on the double steal, putting the go-ahead run in scoring position. Riley bounced back from a 3-1 hole on the next hitter to get a strikeout, setting the stage for Ober. Facing a 1-2 count, the Gettysburg senior connected on a bouncing ball between the third baseman and the shortstop and Yannotta, running with two outs, sped all the way home and touched the plate well ahead of the throw from the left fielder.

Action
Ober, pictured left during her stride into the game-winning hit, finished 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Wallick tallied hits in her final four at bats on the afternoon, including going 3-for-3 in the nightcap. Yannotta was 1-for-2 with two runs and two walks for Gettysburg.

McCullough improved to 11-3 with the victory. She gave up five hits and two runs, while striking out seven. Noteworthy, she moved into second place on the Bullets' all-time list for strikeouts and now has 269 for her career.

Gettysburg returns to action on Wednesday, April 22, with a non-conference doubleheader at Salisbury University. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
