Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Gettysburg lit the scoreboard at Bobby Jones Field Thursday afternoon against visiting Franklin & Marshall College, totaling 22 runs in a Centennial Conference doubleheader sweep. The Bullets opened with an 8-3 victory and then put up a season high for runs with a 14-1 shellacking in the nightcap. The pair of wins coupled with losses by Dickinson College at Ursinus College, ensured Gettysburg's spot in the four-team CC Tournament slated for next weekend.

Senior Erin Ober (Lutherville, Md./Dulaney) led the offensive explosion with five hits in six at bats, including a double, two triples, and a home run. She scored six times and brought in five runs. Freshman Adrienne Rahs (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) posted five hits in five at bats, while senior Jessica Wallick (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) managed three hits and four RBI on the day.

Gettysburg (24-9-1, 9-4-1 CC) blitzed Franklin & Marshall (16-18, 4-10 CC) with five runs in the opener before the visitors had a chance to get on the board. The Bullets tacked on three in their opening at bat, taking advantage of Diplomat miscues in the field, and then added more in the third on a two-run double by Wallick.

Franklin & Marshall put runners in scoring position in each of its first three plate appearances, but didn't break the scoring column until the top of the fourth. The Diplomats loaded the bases and turned in a pair of runs before Kristy Rubino (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) ended the threat with a called third strike on Kristina Fietkiewicz.

The visitors threatened again in their next at bat and plated another run to close the gap to 5-3. With the bases packed and two outs, Gettysburg brought in junior Beth McCullough (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) to close the door and she obliged by fanning Meredith Morgan.

The Bullets added some breathing room with an RBI single by Wallick in the fifth and brought in two more runs in the sixth frame on a run-scoring triple by Ober, who was in turn sent home on a single by junior Sarah Woodbury (Audobon, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy).

Rubino ended with the victory on the mound, improving to 11-6 overall. She struck out five, while allowing six hits, three runs, and six walks. McCullough shut down the Diplomats in the final 2.1 innings, allowing only a walk and striking out five en route to her first career save.

Ober went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Wallick also went 3-for-4 at the dish and brought in three runs. Woodbury plated a pair of runs and Rahs was a perfect 3-for-3 with a run.

Nothing went Franklin & Marshall's way in the nightcap as Gettysburg tallied the first four runs of the game without scoring a single hit. Senior Nicole Yannotta (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) posted the first hit of the game in the next inning and scored on a blast over the left-field fence by Ober in the second inning.

The offense kept rolling in the third with seven runs, all scored with two outs. Gettysburg managed seven hits in the inning, including two by Rahs. After netting three runs, the Bullets posted back-to-back-to-back extra-base hits with a triple by Ober and doubles by Woodbury and Rahs to close the scoring in the frame.

Franklin & Marshall managed only one hit off McCullough in the nightcap - a bloop single by Fietkiewicz in the second inning. McCullough finished with four strikeouts in five innings and improved to 12-3 overall on the year.

Seven players registered a hit for the Bullets with Yannotta, Ober, Rahs, and freshman Catrina DelGais (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) each posting two. Yannotta and Ober each scored three times, with the latter adding four RBI. Woodbury also plated a pair of runs.

Gettysburg wraps up the regular season on Saturday, April 25, with a conference doubleheader at home against McDaniel College at 1 p.m.
