CARLISLE, Pa. – The Gettysburg College baseball team scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning to win its season-high fifth-straight game and keep pace atop the Centennial Conference standings with a 4-3 victory at Dickinson College on Monday. Gettysburg, which remained tied with Franklin & Marshall College for first in the CC following the Diplomats win over Ursinus College, took the initiative in their first at bat as Simard singled to lead off the game. Following a single by Riera and a fielder's choice, sophomore
Matt Karis (Southborough, Mass./Noble & Greenough School) plated Simard from third with a sacrifice fly to right field.
Dickinson (6-16, 2-6 CC) returned the favor in the home-half of the inning with three singles, including a two-out hit by Evan Hennessy to score the Red Devils' first run. The hosts took the lead in the third as Tyler Rosa singled, stole second, advanced to third on a throwing error by the Bullets' catcher, and came around to score on a sac fly by Hennessy.
In their next at bat, Gettysburg notched the equalizer with a two-out, RBI single by
Augie Stadtmueller (Bernardsville, N.J./Bernards). After loading the bases and coming up empty in the fifth, the Bullets regained the advantage in the sixth, once again coming through with two outs on the board. Junior
Craig Barrows (Whippany Park, N.J./Whippany Park) sparked the visitors with a double and scored on a single by Simard. Riera tallied his third hit in the next at bat and Simard took advantage of a miscue by the right fielder to come all the way around to score the eventual game-winner.

Junior Michael Sweeney (Bethesda, Md./St. Anselm's Abbey School) tossed a wild pitch that scored a runner from third, but he thwarted any further damage with a fly to center and two ground outs. He retired the side in the ninth, capping the game with a strikeout, to earn his first career save.
