GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team suffered a pair of come-from-behind losses on Saturday at its own Blast Tournament, dropping five-set matches against both Bridgewater College and Frostburg State University. Bridgewater and Frostburg State each erased 2-0 deficits, the former winning 19-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 15-6 and the latter taking down the hosts 20-25, 25-27, 25-16, 25-21, 15-11.
Gettysburg (8-3) had taken each of the first two sets against Bridgewater (2-7), and despite dropping the third frame, the hosts were still in the driver seat leading 22-20 in the fourth set. The Eagles came back with five-straight points to take the set and carried the momentum into the decisive fifth contest to earn a victory.

Amanda Krampf (Gaithersburg, Md./Gaithersburg) led Gettysburg with 38 assists and posted 14 digs and five kills against Bridgewater. Sophomore
Virginia Hogan (Alpharetta, Ga./Chattahoochee) turned in a season-high 15 kills and senior
Kristina Mercier (Baltimore, Md./Mount de Sales Academy) posted a double-double with a dozen kills and 15 digs. Senior
Kristin Kotewicz (Columbia, Md./River Hill) led the defense with 31 digs.
Bridgewater was led by Katie Baker and Erika Dirnagl with 10 kills apiece.
Frostburg State (9-1) polished off a 4-0 weekend at the Blast Tournament by erasing a 2-0 hole and winning the final three sets. The Bobcats received a monster match from senior outside hitter Brooke Winterling, who knocked down 33 kills and put up 23 digs. Most of those kills were courtesy of Kylie Carrinton who finished with 60 assists.
Junior
Nicole Burns (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro) posted 15 kills and four total blocks for the Bullets against Frostburg State. Mercier and sophomore
Katie McConville (Cold Harbor, N.Y./Haldane) each tallied a dozen kills, the former adding 20 digs. Krampf handed out 43 assists and posted 17 digs.
In addition to Krampf, Winterling and Carrinton from Frostburg, Tricia Davis from Bridgewater, Anne Lutkenhaus from the University of Mary Washington, and Paige Tanner from Elizabethtown were named to the all-tournament team.
Gettysburg returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 15, with its Centennial Conference opener at Bryn Mawr College. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
