Box Score

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – Gettysburg posted a dozen shots and three goals in the first half to breeze past host Washington College 3-0 in Centennial Conference women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Gettysburg (9-5, 4-2 CC) remained in the thick of the conference playoff race with the victory at Washington (4-7-1, 0-6 CC), sitting in a four-way tie for fourth with four matches left on the season's schedule. The Bullets locked down the Shorewomen, allowing only one shot in the opening period and holding the hosts to just five in the match.

With the defense standing firm, the Gettysburg offense did all of its damage in the opening half, peppering the Washington goal for a dozen shots, including four prior to sophomore Suzy Englot's (Fayetteville, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) second goal of the fall at 14:01. Junior Sara Montague (Newark, Del./St. Mark's) picked up the assist.

Washington posted its only first-half shot in the 21st minute, but Gabby Devaud's attempt was stopped stone-cold by junior keeper Allie Rivera (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham Wading River). Seven minutes later, the visitors tacked on some insurance as sophomore Casey Attanasio (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) scored for the second consecutive match, kicking home a rebound off a shot by freshman Mallory Sheer (South Orange, N.J./Columbia).

Two Bullet captains hooked up for the match's final tally as senior Sarah Yeager (Westport, Conn./Staples) found Montague in the box for a header at 40:31.

Washington out-shot Gettysburg 4-3 in the second period, but the Bullets defense made sure none of those attempts were on goal in recording its second-straight shutout and sixth of the season.

Gettysburg's final two weeks of conference play begin on Tuesday, Oct. 19, against McDaniel College (2-7-3, 1-5 CC) at Clark Field. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
