No. 3 Women’s Lax Powers Past Muhlenberg 18-9

Bullets out-score Mules 8-2 in the second half to pull away

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Senior Jessica Crane (Sudbury, Mass./Lincoln-Sudbury) scored three of her four goals during a 6-0 run in the second half and senior Hollis Stahl (Hightstown, N.J./Peddie School) added a game-high six goals to spark third-ranked Gettysburg College to an 18-9 victory over Muhlenberg College in Centennial Conference women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.

Crane scored on all four of her shot attempts and added one assist, two ground balls, four draw controls, and two caused turnovers for Gettysburg (7-0, 2-0 CC). Stahl finished with a career-high tying seven points, adding an assist to her goal total, while senior Nina Emala (Baltimore, Md./Bryn Mawr School) added five points on three goals and two helpers.

Muhlenberg (4-1, 0-1 CC) came into Saturday's affair averaging 19 goals per game, but Gettysburg dropped the hammer early by netting the opening three goals as Stahl lit the lamp twice off passes from sophomore Hannah Church (Ellicott City, Md./Mount de Sales) and Emala scored off a feed from junior Allegra Formento (Princeton, N.J./Princeton).

Danielle Rosen went back-to-back to get the Mules into the game and after each side traded goals to maintain the one-goal difference, the Bullets netted four of the next five scores with Emala's second goal pushing the lead to 8-4 at 8:25.

The Mules tossed in three of the final five goals to pull to 10-7 at halftime.

Stahl and Danielle Scarrone exchanged goals to start the second half before Crane went back-to-back for the Bullets, kicking off a six-goal spurt. Stahl's sixth and final tally gave the visitors a comfortable 17-9 lead with more than half of the final period remaining.

Gettysburg held a slide lead in shots (34-29), ground balls (21-20), and draw controls (16-13), while Muhlenberg put up one more save than the Bullets' dozen.

Junior Marnie Commins (Fairfax Station, Va./Robinson) tossed in two goals and handed out two assists for Gettysburg, while senior Lauren Woodman (Denver, Colo./Kent) posted one goal and one assist. Junior Becky Lutz (Madison, Conn./Daniel Hand) corralled a game-high six ground balls and senior Nicole Ditillo (Baldwin, Md./Fallston) added two ground balls, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers.

Senior goalie Kristen Krammer (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) made a season-high 12 saves in the win, 10 coming in the second half alone.

Rosen finished with four goals on nine shots for Muhlenberg. Amanda McGovern and Alex Bellini each added one goal and one assist, while Allisyn Vachon made a game-high 13 saves.

Gettysburg returns to Clark Field on Tuesday to face 11th-ranked Middlebury College at 4:30 p.m.
