Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Beth McCullough (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) posted her second shutout against a Centennial Conference foe and junior Megan Lott (Bellsville, Md./Pallotti) went a combined 6-for-7 as the Gettysburg College softball team earned a split at Haverford College on Saturday, March 27.

Gettysburg (10-7-1, 3-1 CC) took the opener 5-0 behind McCullough's four-hitter and Lott's 4-for-4 performance at the plate. The Bullets fell short in game two at Haverford (7-7, 1-1 CC) 3-1 despite two more hits from Lott.

Freshman Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) and Lott helped put Gettysburg on the board in the opener with back-to-back singles to lead off the third frame. Both Bullets came around to score as sophomore Adrienne Rahs (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) plated Hallfors with a single and senior Sarah Woodbury (Audubon, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) brought home both Lott and Rahs with another single.

Gettysburg tacked on another run in the fourth inning to go up 4-0. Senior Kara Kempski (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) reached on an error to start the inning and Lott brought her home with a single. Lott had a hand in the game's final run as well, leading off the sixth with a double and coming around to score on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Catrina DelGais (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern).

After shutting out Muhlenberg College last weekend, McCullough stranded nine base runners on Saturday to keep her conference ERA all zeroes this spring. She walked five and struck out nine for the victory. Lott and Hallfors each scored twice and Woodbury finished 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In the nightcap, Gettysburg managed just five hits and left five on base. The Bullets squandered scoring opportunities in both the first and sixth innings. In the former, Hallfors and Lott led off with singles, but the heart of the order was unable to cash in.

Haverford did all of its scoring in the second inning with two outs. Candice Smith provided the big hit with a two-run triple to center field.

The Bullets loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth inning but only managed to bring around one run. Lott scored the tally on a fielder's choice by DelGais, right before an inning-ending double play.

Sophomore Lanie Parr (Washington, D.C./Academy of the Holy Cross) took the loss for Gettysburg, falling to 5-2 after allowing three runs on six hits, while striking out three.

The Bullets return to action on Tuesday, March 30, with a home non-conference doubleheader against Messiah College at 3 p.m.
