MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – After netting just two runs combined in a pair of games on Monday at the Snowbird Tournament, the Gettysburg College softball team dialed up the offense on Tuesday with a combined 27 runs in a pair of victories over Eastern Nazarene College and Penn State Harrisburg.
Gettysburg (3-2) opened the day with a 19-0 decision over Eastern Nazarene, marking the team's highest scoring output since a 30-0 decision over Lesley College in 2003. The Bullets did most of the damage in that game in the first (five runs) and fifth (10 runs) innings.
Freshman
Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) and sophomore
Adrienne Rahs (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) each went 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs. Junior
Megan Lott (Bellsville, Md./Pallotti) reached base four times via a triple and three walks, scored twice, and drove in two, while senior
Sarah Woodbury (Audubon, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph Academy) and junior
Caitlin Bay (Flemington, N.J./Immaculata) each plated three runs.
Sophomore
Lanie Parr (Washington, D.C./Academy of the Holy Cross) earned her first victory as a Bullet, pitching all five innings and striking out three.
For an encore, the Orange and Blue kept the shutout streak and bats going with an 8-0 win over Penn State Harrisburg. Lott kept her hot start to the spring alive by going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, a double, and her second home run in as many days.
Sophomore
Catrina DelGais (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) capped a busy day on the base paths with two runs, giving her five runs scored total on the day. Woodbury also scored twice in the contest, while freshman
Sam Bader (York, Pa./Central York) drove in a pair.
Freshman
Taylor Snyder (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Regional) joined Parr in the win column with a three-hit, complete-game shutout.
Gettysburg picks up action at the Snowbird Tournament on Wednesday, March 10, against Bridgewater College and Bluefield College at 9 and 10:30 a.m., respectively.
