LANCASTER, Pa. – Sophomore Catrina DelGais (Airmont, N.Y./Suffern) posted five hits and three RBI to lead the Gettysburg College softball team to a sweep of Franklin & Marshall College on Thursday, April 15. The Bullets took the opener 11-2 and won the nightcap 10-3 en route to improving to 16-11-1 overall and 8-4 in the Centennial Conference.

DelGais finished 5-for-7 with two runs, and three RBI in the sweep, while senior Sarah Woodbury (Audobon, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph's Academy) rapped out four hits and drove in four. Gettysburg also took advantage of a combined 15 walks in the two games by the Franklin & Marshall (8-12, 2-8 CC) pitching staff, with sophomore Adrienne Rahs (Bethlehem, Pa./Saucon Valley) drawing four free passes and scoring four runs.

In the opener, the score was tied at two runs through three innings until the Bullet bats warmed up in the top of the fourth. Freshman Joy Hallfors (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) broke the deadlock with her second triple of the game and team-best sixth of the season to plate the go-ahead run.

Gettysburg tacked on eight more runs in the final three frames, highlighted by a two-run double by junior Megan Lott (Bellsville, Md./Pallotti) in the seventh. With the added run support, sophomore Lanie Parr (Washington, D.C./Academy of the Holy Cross) cruised to her ninth win of the spring. She allowed two runs on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

DelGais and Woodbury each tallied three hits in the opener, while Lott and Rahs each scored twice.

Gettysburg broke open a tight game in the nightcap with an eight-run fifth inning. DelGais doubled home the first run and capped the inning with a run-scoring single.

Senior Beth McCullough (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Homestead) mowed down 10 Diplomats to pick up the victory on the mound for Gettysburg. DelGais finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and Rahs went 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Hallfors didn't record an official at bat as the first-year drew three walks and scored a pair of runs.

Gettysburg faces conference front-runner Ursinus College (20-2, 10-0 CC) on Saturday, April 17, at Bobby Jones Field beginning at 1 p.m.
